  • Publication number: 20110183145
Abstract: Fire resistant glazings having improved properties comprising a silicate based interlayer which contains from 35% to 43% by weight of water may be produced using a cast in place process. The amount of water in the interlayer is reduced by concentrating the silicate solution or by introducing silica in the form of a silica sol. Preferably a mixture of an aqueous sol and an organosol is used. Polyhydroxy compounds and saccharides may be incorporated into the interlayer to improve the properties thereof and to reduce the water content. The silicate based formulations are pourable and can be used in a cast in place production process and subsequently cured to form an optically clear interlayer.

  • Patent number: 7983979
Abstract: A method and system for authenticating the identity of a consumer is disclosed. After the consumer is authenticated by a trusted third party, the consumer designates accounts that the consumer wishes to “lock.” When a party requests access to that account, the consumer is notified through the consumer's phone and asked to input a PIN. If the consumer provides the PIN, the requestor is granted access to the consumer's account without requiring further input from the consumer. If the party authorizing the transaction in this “two-factor” authentication does not possess both the phone and the consumer's PIN, or that party elects not to provide the PIN, the request will not be authenticated.

  • Patent number: 7947384
Abstract: Solutions comprising a sodium silicate waterglass having a modulus of less than 3 and at least 8% by weight of an organic polyhydroxy compound such as glycerol are useful in the production of interlayers used in fire resistant glass laminates. The solutions are dried on a flat surface such as glass to produce a clear intumescent interlayer having improved impact resistance. The dried interlayer may be removed from the surface in the form of an elastomeric material which may also be used as an interlayer in a fire resistant glazing.

  • Publication number: 20090229116
Abstract: An apparatus for setting side glass in a convertible vehicle body, prior to assembly of a convertible top on the vehicle body, includes a fixture adapted to engage multiple convertible top locating points on the vehicle's header and rear deck-lid shelf. Sensors mounted on the fixture detect the position of the raised side glass relative to the locating points and provide relative position information to an assembly operator, for example, through use of LED arrays, whereby the assembly operator can quickly set the side glass to a target position with which to achieve a desired side glass engagement with the convertible top, upon subsequent assembly of the convertible top to the vehicle body.

  • Publication number: 20070232168
Abstract: A panel had a first face and a second face, including a strike face portion having a first plurality of plies each containing fibers in a matrix material. There is a support portion adjacent to the strike face portion, the support portion containing a second plurality of plies each having fibers in a matrix material. Each ply is bound to an adjacent ply and the first fibers are lower-performing relative to the second fibers. Protection from a ballistic threat may be provided by providing such a panel with the strike face disposed toward the threat. In another aspect, a composite ballistic panel may contain fibers in a thermoplastic matrix material, to the substantial exclusion of thermosetting matrix materials.
