Abstract: In a method and system for creating an interconnection between autonomous enterprise service buses (ESB) federations, each one of the ESB federations comprise at least one ESB deployment, which further include a plurality of ESB nodes that provide connectivity to one or more services. According to a protocol, a first ESB node is designated in each of the ESB federations as a boundary node that is responsible for establishing and maintaining an interconnection between at least two of the ESB federations. Advertisement messages are transmitted between the boundary nodes that include routing information. In response to receiving the advertisement messages, each of the boundary nodes store the routing information received from other boundary nodes in respective distributed registries to create a local view of routable service endpoints in the federation. Each of the boundary nodes then use the respective distributed registries to make routing decisions when routing service requests.

Abstract: In a method and system for creating a federation of a plurality of enterprise service buses (ESBs), a plurality of ESB nodes provide connectivity to one or more services. According to a protocol, at least a portion of the ESB nodes transmit policy-based service advertisement messages to other ESB nodes, wherein the policy-based service advertisement messages include service state information. In response to receiving the policy-based service advertisement messages, each of the ESB nodes stores the service state information received from other ESB nodes in respective distributed registries to create a local view of routable service endpoints in the federation. Each of the ESB nodes then uses its respective distributed registry to make routing decisions when routing service requests.

Abstract: A personal care kit comprises a first series of unit-dose packages containing a first skin care composition and a second series of unit-doses packages containing a second skin care composition, wherein the first skin care composition and the second skin care composition exhibit a readily perceptible difference. The readily perceptible difference may be a visible difference, a tactile difference, or an olfactory difference. The first and/or second skin care composition may comprise a skin care active. A method for using the personal care kit is also disclosed.

Abstract: A multiplexer (1) having M high frequency input channels (2) and N high frequency output channels (3). The multiplexer (1) comprises N routing control inputs (4); a detector (10) arranged to receive control signals on the or each control input (4), the control signals being indicative of a required connection between the multiplexer input channels (2) and output channels (3); and a decoder (11) arranged to decode the received control signals and generate switching control signals (8) to selectively connect the input channels (2) to the output channels (3) in response to the decoded control signals. The multiplexer (1) is integrated onto a single chip. A multiplexer apparatus comprising a pair of such multiplexers (1) mounted on a printed circuit board is also described. The multiplexers (1) are positioned on opposite sides of the printed circuit board, with one multiplexer (1) rotated 180° about a diagonal axis (20) relative to the other multiplexer (1).

The invention also provides methods of treating a subject afflicted with a cardiac rhythm disorder comprising expression of the chimeric HCN polypeptide in a selected region of the heart so as to induce a pacemaker current in the heart and thereby treat the subject.

The invention also provides related methods of making the bypass bridge, methods of implanting same in a heart, and methods of treating a disorder associated with an impaired conduction in a subject's heart.

Abstract: A method of defining policies for controlling access to resources of a system. Authorization requirements for the system are modeled to obtain a model expressing each of a plurality of access control policies as a constraint. From the model is generated a single policy set in an authorization markup language that captures the requirements. This method can be used to define role-based access control policies in a format that can be adapted for input to a variety of access control mechanisms. This generative approach to access control design allows maintenance to be performed at the requirements level.

Abstract: This invention provides for a chamber and system designed for use in assaying drug effects on heart rate. The chamber consists of a series of wells, each 3 mm by 3 mm in inner diameter. Cardiac myocytes disaggregated from neonatal animals are plated onto the bottom of each well and grown under standard tissue culture conditions. The chamber holds from 24-96 such wells. When drugs are to be assayed, the cells in each well are loaded with a calcium sensitive dye and the beating rate in each is monitored with a photodiode. Drug is added in graded concentrations to each well, and equilibrated and effects on rate are observed. This construct permits use of a cell based bioassay for the study of drugs or agents that may alter cardiac rate. This invention can be used in high throughput screening of drugs to evaluate/predict their effects on cardiac rate and rhythm.
