  • Patent number: 5854996
Abstract: Methods for producing logic signal displays for an instrument known as a "logic oscilloscope" are disclosed. A digital input signal is first sampled as an analog signal to produce multi-bit digital samples that are representative of the amplitude of the input signal over time. The multi-bit digital samples are then processed using interpolative techniques to ascertain when the input signal crossed a hypothetical logic level threshold or pair of thresholds and when the signal was in one logic state or the other. The resulting transition times and logic states are then used as the basis for generating a variety of digital displays, including logic timing diagrams, state table displays, and cursor readouts similar to those available in a logic analyzer. Setup and hold time violations and measurements may also be obtained using this information.

  • Patent number: 5836782
Abstract: An electrical connector for forming an electrical connection with wires and particularly insulated wires. The connector comprises a connector element having first and second portions (2) with a slot for accepting a wire therebetween. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the first and second portions are substantially perpendicular and present a stepped slot to a wire that is inserted. The angle between the wire and the first or second portions is in the range 5.degree. to 85.degree. and is typically 45.degree.. When an insulated wire is inserted into the slot, the insulation (8) is penetrated to enable the connector element to establish electrical contact with the conductor (6) of the wire.

  • Patent number: 5628065
Abstract: The present invention is a protective firefighter hood in which a pocket is formed to protect the required garment label which must be attached to the hood. The hood includes a head portion shaped to cover at least a wearer's head and an optional bib portion attached to and extending from the head portion to cover at least a wearer's neck. In one embodiment, a gap is formed between the stitching that connects the inner and outer layers of the head portion, adjacent the label. Accordingly, the label can be stored so that it does not contact the wearer, by inserting it through the gap in the stitching. In an alternative embodiment, the hood is provided with a patch pocket on the head portion or bib portion adjacent the label, so that the label can be placed alternatively within the pocket away from contacting the wearer or removed from the pocket to be viewed.

  • Patent number: 4940989
Abstract: A method of feeding a high impedance point of an antenna, such as the end of a 1/2 wave radiator. A resonant cavity is used for making an impedance match between the antenna and the feed line and forming a decoupling mechanism for forming the high impedance. Simultaneously, the cavity choke is formed with the open end facing toward the feed point for allowing a feed point impedance transformation between the feed line and the high impedance at the end of the 1/2 wave element and forming a high impedance point by its resonance for preventing the feed from flowing down along the outer surface of the choke and feed line.

  • Patent number: 4937588
Abstract: A system for attaining an impedance match uses an array of collinear dipoles. By the shifting of the feedpoints away from the centers of the dipoles, the match may be made to any desired input feedpoint impedance.
