  • Patent number: 8172182
Abstract: Apparatus and methods described herein provide for a spillover tank to extend the fuel capacity of the main wing tank of an aircraft. The spillover tank is located in the wing of the aircraft adjacent to the main wing tank. At least one aperture exists through the shared barrier between the main wing tank and the spillover tank that allows fuel to flow passively between the tanks. A scavenge pump mechanism driven by motive flow from the main fuel pumps continuously pumps fuel from the spillover tank into the main wing tank.

  • Publication number: 20110231106
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of determining the status of a subject. In particular, this is achieved by obtaining subject data including respective values for each of a number of parameters, the parameter values being indicative of the current biological status of the subject. The subject data is compared to predetermined data which includes values for at least some of the parameters and an indication of the condition. The status of the subject, and in particular, the presence and/or absence of the one or more conditions, can then be determined in accordance with the results of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8004863
Abstract: In an embodiment, a circuit device includes a network interface responsive to a powered network to receive a power supply and data and includes an electrical isolation barrier adapted to define a non-isolated power domain and an isolated power domain. The circuit device further includes a first control circuit associated with the non-isolated power domain. The first control circuit is coupled to a primary winding of a transformer to control current flow via the primary winding. The circuit device also includes a second control circuit associated with the isolated power domain. The second control circuit is coupled to a secondary winding of the transformer and is adapted to detect a power error associated with the secondary winding. The second control circuit transfers a command across the electrical isolation barrier to the first control circuit to adjust a current at the primary winding in response to detecting the power error.

  • Patent number: 7940594
Abstract: An electronic circuit includes multiple circuit elements arranged into multiple distinct subdivisions, each subdivision having a separate voltage supply connection for conveying power to the subdivision. The electronic circuit further includes a controller including multiple outputs, each of the outputs being connected to a corresponding one of the voltage supply connections. When a given one of the subdivisions does not include a weak circuit element, the controller supplies a first voltage level to the given subdivision via the corresponding voltage supply connection. When the given subdivision includes at least one weak circuit element, the controller is operative to supply at least a second voltage level to the given subdivision via the corresponding voltage supply connection, the second voltage level being greater than the first voltage level.

  • Patent number: 7918847
Abstract: A method for treatment of atrial fibrillation includes utilizing mathematical analysis, e.g., logistic regression, on a collection of variables selected from the group including effective refractory period, wavelength, tissue area, tissue weight, maximum tissue width, minimum tissue width, and average tissue width to design a set of lesions that would make an atria fibrillation-proof. Preferably, the most preferred variables are tissue area, effective refractory period, and conduction velocity. This is preferably an electrophysiologically-customized procedure that is preferably minimally invasive, which could include transvenous or port access, either off or on bypass to create the set of lesions that render an atria fibrillation-proof based on the mathematical analysis of selected variables. Long linear lesions are created from a variety of energy sources as well as surgical techniques. Preferably, there are fixation and marking mechanisms utilized.
