  • Patent number: 6560815
Abstract: A mop squeezing device is provided for co-operation with a mop head of a mop (49). The mop (49) has a mop head backing (53) which carries mop material (55). The device has a mop surface engaging face (17) and displaced opposite said face (17) abutment means (19). In use the mop head is placed between the mop surface engaging face (17) and the abutment means (19) and the handle of the mop cranked. This, in turn, compresses the mop material (55) and squeezes liquid from the mop material (55). A mop having a backing for mop material is also provided. A two axis swivel connector is provided between the mop head and a mop handle. This allows the mop head to assume multi-axis of orientation during operation.

  • Patent number: 6560664
Abstract: A common hardware page walker includes an arbitration logic block that controls data bus access between the arbitration logic block and multiple translation lookaside buffers (TLBs), such as an instruction TLB and a data TLB. The arbitration logic block simplifies the complexity within the hardware page walker and makes multiple-state data transfer possible. Each unit (i.e., the hardware page walker and a data TLB and an instruction TLB) has a unidirectional bus that it always drives, and the arbitration logic block informs the hardware page walker which of the busses is active during any given cycle. Thus, the hardware page walker can receive only one command per cycle, and needs no extra logic to handle multiple bus access requests.

  • Patent number: 6490656
Abstract: Methods improve state information retention when selecting a not-recently-used element in an array of N elements. A first method comprises the steps of subdividing the array of N elements into K groups, selecting a group from among the K groups, selecting an element that is set to a not-recently-used state from the elements in the selected group, and marking the selected element as recently-used. If all the elements in the selected group are marked as recently-used, the method preferably marks all the elements in the selected group, except the selected element, as not-recently-used. Alternately, the method simply marks all the elements in the selected group when all the elements in the selected group are marked as recently-used. The method also preferably cycles through the groups so that a different group is selected each time.

  • Patent number: 6488402
Abstract: A device for the injection and mixing of steam into a tank containing a fluid such as water. A primary steam conduit receives steam and discharges it into a plurality of secondary steam conduits. The primary steam conduit is provided with at least one mixing element for inducing an angular velocity to the steam passing through it. A plurality of secondary steam conduits are provided for receiving steam from the primary steam conduit and for discharging steam into the fluid contained in the tank. Each secondary steam conduit is also provided with at least one mixing element proximate the discharge ends of the secondary steam conduits wherein all such mixing elements induce a rotational angular velocity to the steam.

  • Patent number: 6370725
Abstract: A mop is provided which has an elongate handle (3), a mop head (5), for carrying a squeezable mop material (13). The mop has arms (27, 29, 37, 39) which can be moved to effect squeezing of the mop material (13). The mop has a two axis swivel connector (7) which has two mutually perpendicular axis (57 and 59). The arrangement is such that the mop head (5) can be swung to various angular orientations relative to the handle (3) at the same time. A stop (56) is provided on the mop head (5) to act with the handle (3) when the arms (27, 29, 37, 39) are moved to effect squeezing, thereby allowing a squeezing force to be applied to the mop material (13).

  • Publication number: 20010044151
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved method to modulate exogenous gene expression in which an ecdysone receptor complex comprising: a DNA binding domain; a ligand binding domain; a transactivation domain; and a ligand is contacted with a DNA construct comprising: the exogenous gene and a response element; wherein the exogenous gene is under the control of the response element and binding of the DNA binding domain to the response element in the presence of the ligand results in activation or suppression of the gene. The improvement resides in a select group of non-steroid ligands which show improved activity over known ligands.

  • Patent number: 5977546
Abstract: Method and apparatus for measuring the quantity of sample materials which provides stable measurements for extended periods of time. A source beam containing measuring radiation and reference radiation is directed through a sample material. The measuring radiation consists of spectral energy that interacts substantially with the sample material. The reference radiation consists of spectral energy with substantially different interaction properties with the sample material. Radiation is directed along separate analyzing and normalizing information channels wherein the radiation has substantially different sample interaction. Analyzing and normalizing detectors provide responses to radiation in respective analyzing information channel or normalizing information channel. A measuring mode is established by inserting a first filter into the source beam to allow substantially only measuring radiation to propagate to the detectors, creating measuring responses.

  • Patent number: 5928346
Abstract: A PC bus architecture that is compatible with an industry standard bus architecture and allows devices to transfer data more effeciently. The protocol of the present invention allows a data transaction in which a data transfer request can be made by a bus master device and then queued so that the transaction occurs at a later time allowing the bus to be free for other transactions until the responding device has prepared the data.
