  • Patent number: 5689660
Abstract: A PC bus architecture that is compatible with an industry standard bus architecture and allows devices to transfer data at higher data rates that the bus clock speed. By transferring data more than once per clock cycle, the data transfer rate is multiplied. Another feature of the present invention is a protocol allowing a data transaction in which a data transfer request can be made by a bus master device and then queued so that the transaction occurs at a later time allowing the bus to be free for other transactions until the responding device has prepared the data.

  • Patent number: 5513543
Abstract: A detent assembly and control lever assembly in which the tactile resistance to movement at the detent, and in the overall movement of the control arm, are concurrently increased or decreased. The apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a control lever arm assembly, a variable resistance detent assembly, and a control lever friction assembly whose movement is linked to that of the detent assembly.

  • Patent number: 4856789
Abstract: An improved chess set, for play by opposing two-man teams, comprises a game board fifteen squares wide and twelve squares deep. Each team has a playing piece set comprising a common king and a player set for each of the team players. Each player set, color coded for identification, comprises two rooks, two knights, two bishops and a queen disposed on the outside rows of the game board. Each player set further comprises seven pawns, disposed on the squares immediately in front of the seven principal pieces. Each team set of playing pieces further includes a warder, for common play by either team member. The warder is initially disposed on the square in advance of the king and may be moved to any of the squares within a designated "castle area". The warder may be captured only by a knight or pawn. Each team member is limited to moving the pieces of his assigned player set, plus his team's king and warder.

  • Patent number: 4800096
Abstract: A one-step pectin gelling composition is produced by combining sugar, acid and pectin, the pectin having a D.M. of from 70 to 75 and a particle size of less than 200 microns.

  • Patent number: 4706207
Abstract: An apparatus for making blood counts is provided with computer and instrument control to optimize performance of the apparatus. Means for counting blood cells such as platelets, white blood and red blood cells enables a plot of the number of particles counted in each of the adjacent bands or channels inclusive within a selected range of particle size so that a plot of count against particle size may be made. The computer enables analyses of plots thus obtained by system algorithms in order to correct errors of various types which may occur in the plot. For example, by calculating the logarithms of the counts of particles and of mean particle size for each particle size channel, a further plot of log count against log of blood particle size of generally symmetrical bell shape may be generated. The computer further calculates change of logarithm (.DELTA. log) of counts in adjacent channels.

  • Patent number: 4684818
Abstract: An electrical system for a motor vehicle includes a three-phase AC generator having wye-connected output windings and a three-phase full-wave rectifier. The neutral node of the wye-connected generator is grounded while the rectifier is ungrounded. As a result, three distinct DC voltages are produced: two three-phase half-wave rectified DC voltages of opposite polarity in respect to ground and a three-phase full-wave rectified voltage which is the sum of the other two DC voltages. One of the former lower-magnitude DC voltages may be employed to supply the usual low DC voltage loads of the vehicle while latter higher-magnitude DC voltage may be employed to energize a higher DC voltage load such as a window glass heater element.

  • Patent number: 4564529
Abstract: A dry mix for making a whipped topping when combined with cold milk or water is produced by dry blending a spray dried, encapsulated fat, a sweetener and particles of a hydroxypropyl cellulose gum. The prepared topping has excellent texture, an absence of off-flavors and a relatively low level of the hydrocolloids stabilizers.
