  • Publication number: 20200062184
Abstract: A folding staircase. The folding staircase has a frame with an upper end and a lower end. The upper end of the frame defines a top step. Multiple steps are pivotally connected to the lower end of the frame and pivoting arms connects each of the steps to one another. The frame includes brackets that secure to existing mounting points of a vehicle. At least one step is operably connected to a linear actuator, which is in turn connected to a motor. The motor is operably connected to a control switch. Activation and deactivation of the control switch causes the motor to operate resulting in the unfolding of the steps outwardly to a deployed configuration and folding inwardly to a storage configuration. The folding staircase is utilized to provide a safe method of entering and exiting a vehicle.

Abstract: A method to form a laminar integral skin of a honeycomb structure is provided. The method includes extruding a ceramic precursor batch through a die with feedholes in entry side and slots in exit face of the die to form the honeycomb structure. In a region on the periphery of the die configured to form the cell matrix, a series of concentric slots around the matrix in the exit face of the die are configured to feed skin onto the matrix. Ring sections between concentric slots are angled away from the center and a mask is disposed on top of the periphery producing a channel for extruded skin to meet and bond to extruded matrix. Optionally, slots in the skin-forming ring sections enhance knitting between laminar skin layers. The die and honeycomb body having uniform integral skin are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180104736
Abstract: A controllable force cushion device that can be programmed to provide a variable and/or pulsating force that can be used in any application where force control is desirable. The frequency of the pulsation can be adjusted to suit different applications and/or circumstances (e.g., forming of sheet metals in die applications, etc.). The cushion can comprise one or more manifolds containing hydraulic cylinders that can be compressed during operation pushing fluid through a proportional relief valve that can be controlled by a motion control device, thereby creating a desired force. Material (e.g., sheet metal, etc.) flow can be controlled by using a gap control method. In use, the variable pulsating, gap control, auto-learning press cushion device of the present invention can optionally be mounted to the underside of a press bolster and can be used in conjunction with a stamping press.
