  • Publication number: 20080053349
Abstract: An incinerator 20 for disposing of boil-off gas on an LNG carrier comprises a combustion chamber 42 wherein the boil-off gas admitted at 40 is burned in the presence of combustion air admitted at 44, producing a flame 46 and combustion products C. Dilution air A is delivered into the combustion chamber 42 and mixed with the combustion products C to produce a diluted mixture M. The combustion chamber 42 has an inner wall 48 and an outer wall 50 together defining a first passage 52 through which the dilution air A is passed before being mixed with the combustion products C, whereby the dilution air A cools the incinerator 20. The dilution air A in the first passage 52 also provides a thermally insulting layer limiting radial heat transmission from the combustion chamber 42. A flue 58 is configured and arranged so that the flame 46 is enclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080005716
Abstract: A user logic design for a mask-programmable logic device (“MPLD”) may be designed on a comparable or compatible user-programmable logic device (“UPLD”) and migrated to the MPLD, or may be designed directly on an MPLD. If the design is designed on a UPLD, the constraints of the target MPLD—i.e., differences between the devices—are taken into account so that the migration will be successful. If the design is designed directly on an MPLD, constraints of a comparable compatible UPLD are taken into account if the user indicates that the design will be migrated to the UPLD for testing. This means that when a logic design is intended to be migrated back-and-forth between a UPLD and an MPLD, only the intersection of features can be used. To facilitate migration, fixed mappings between pairs of devices may be created.

  • Publication number: 20060163113
Abstract: A fuel composition containing a major amount of a fuel suitable for use in a compression-ignition engine is disclosed. The fuel contains one or more hydrocarbon components boiling within the diesel boiling range, at least one of which hydrocarbon components has been treated with a metal adsorbing or absorbing material in a different physical phase from the hydrocarbon component(s), preferably to reduce the level of at least one metal, more preferably the level of at least one heavier metal, most preferably the level of zinc, in said at least one hydrocarbon component. The emission of NOx, and optionally particulates, is reduced from the exhaust of a compression-ignition engine when such fuel composition is introduced into the combustion chambers. The treatment includes physical separation of the hydrocarbon component from the metal adsorbing or absorbing phase.

  • Publication number: 20060130993
Abstract: A method for fabricating a reinforced matrix composite comprising the step of providing a composite preform having a fibrous structure and applying matrix material onto the preform in locations along the preform. A barrier material is applied to at least a portion of the coated preform to direct the flow of matrix material into the preform. The composite preform is heated to a temperature sufficient to render the matrix material viscous and insufficient to cure the matrix material. The pressure to the interior of the composite preform is reduced, while the pressure to the barrier material is increased. The temperature is maintained to flow the matrix material into the composite preform and to force gases from the fibrous structure. The composite preform is then cured and cooled to form a reinforced matrix composite having a low void content and a substantially uniform matrix distribution.
