  • Publication number: 20140122074
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes the step of determining an age group of a first user. Media content available to the first user is identified. It is determined whether the user has permission to listen to the media content. The media content is jammed with a sound wave at a frequency that can be heard by the user when the user does not have permission to listen to the media content. Optionally, a voice age-recognition algorithm to determine the age group of the first user. An age-group of a second user can be determined. The first user and the second user may be proximate to a media player providing the ambient sound stream.

  • Patent number: 8709037
Abstract: The surgical instrument includes a distal tool, an elongated shaft that supports the distal tool, and a proximal handle or control member, where the tool and the handle are coupled to the respective distal and proximal ends of the elongated shaft via distal and proximal bendable motion members. Actuation means extends between said distal and proximal members whereby any deflection of said control handle with respect to said elongated instrument shaft causes a corresponding bending of said distal motion member for control of said working member. The proximal bendable member comprises a ball and socket assembly supported between the handle and instrument shaft and constructed and arranged for three dimensional motion.

  • Patent number: 8701119
Abstract: An improved method for parsing XML data or NVP data in software is disclosed. The method takes advantage of some modern processors' architecture which has multiple execution units. The multiple execution units allow multiple processing loops to occur in parallel. Instructions can be ordered so that the maximum delay in finishing a task is determined by the execution unit with the most processing to perform. Corresponding cycles in the remaining execution units can then be filled to perform other operations in parallel.

  • Publication number: 20140090590
Abstract: A submersible able to maintain one atmosphere of pressure throughout its operating envelope with the capacity to maintain a habitable atmosphere through its capability of rapid transit between underwater operating areas and the water's surface so as to replenish habitable air via a system of ducting, valves, and fans. The submersible is comprised of a towing and stability system that can vary stability about the submersible's longitudinal axis by selectively clutching or declutching the submersible's minimally stable crew compartment to the submersible's more stable bow hull, as controlled by the submersible's operator. The towing and stability system also provides the ability to propel the submersible underwater along a path of the operator's selection by aligning the tow vector within proximity of the center of gravity and then steering the submersible in three dimensions by articulating a plurality of hydroplanes which enact moments upon the submersible, thereby controlling its path.

  • Publication number: 20130297482
Abstract: A computerized trading platform for performing Enhanced Allocation of contracts from an order to Lead Market Makers depending on the number of contracts to be traded at a national best bid offer (NBBO). After all customer orders have been processed, lots of a small size order (SSO) will be preferentially directed to a Lead Market Maker without sharing. For each incoming order that is not a small size, if the Lead Market Maker is quoting at the NBBO, its participation entitlement is equal to the greater of (i) the proportion of the size of the LMM's quote to the total quote size at the LE-BBO, (ii) sixty percent (60%) of the contracts to be allocated if there is only one (1) other Market Maker quotation at the LE-BBO and (iii) forty percent (40%) of the contracts if there are two (2) or more other Market Maker quotations at the LE-BBO. For purposes of allocation, all Market Maker Priority interest at a certain price level shall be aggregated.

  • Patent number: 8470559
Abstract: We disclose growth hormone [GH] fusion proteins that have increased in vivo stability and activity; nucleic acid molecules encoding said proteins and methods of treatment of growth hormone deficiency that use said fusion proteins. The GH fusion proteins comprise human GH covalently linked to the extracellular domain of Growth Hormone Receptor [GHR] either as a direct in-frame translational fusion or via a flexible peptide linker. The GH/GHR fusion proteins have exceptional pharmacokinetics and are potent growth hormone receptor agonists. The GH/GHR fusion proteins form head to tail dimers.

  • Patent number: 8417613
Abstract: The invention calculates an American option value by: creating a discrete approximation for a self-convolving probability distribution with a pre-determined number of points; creating a discrete approximation of a delta function for one entry of value 1 at a current time; creating probability distributions of returns for a stock underlying the option, for a plurality of times from a current time through an expiry for the option; calculating a probability distribution for a value for the option at expiry; and doing a series of reverse convolutions of the self-convolving distribution with each probability distribution of returns for the stock underlying the option, starting with the probability distribution for the return of the stock at the expiry, and obtaining the current value for the option.

  • Publication number: 20130044055
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes the step of providing an image to a user. The image is provided with a computer display, An eye-tracking data is obtained from the user when the user views the image. The eye-tracking data is obtained with an eye-tracking system. A user attribute is determined based on the eye-tracking data. The user is enabled to access a digital resource when the user attribute is associated with a permission to access the digital resource. The user attribute can be a personhood state. The digital resource can be a web page document. An instruction can be provided to the user regarding a pattern of viewing the image. The pattern of viewing the image can include instructing the user to gaze on a specified sequence of image elements.

  • Patent number: 8336037
Abstract: Client Native method Interface (CNI) minimizing eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) parsing is provided using array pair data structures. An empty array pair is passed to an engine from client code via a CNI call. The engine parses the XML document and fills the array pair with fixed width elements. The filled array pair is passed back to client code. The client code iterates through the elements in the array pair and invokes the appropriate handlers or builds appropriate tree objects for Document Object Model parsing. Thus, one CNI call passes the empty array pair from client code to the engine, and the filled array pair is returned from the engine to client code. Individual sets of CNI calls for each element are avoided, minimizing the number of CNI calls. Further, since elements in the array pair are of fixed width, they can be processed more efficiently by the client code.

  • Patent number: 8285617
Abstract: A computer implemented method for automated content-based processing of FIX messages to facilitate the selective delivery of Financial Information eXchange (FIX) messages, includes: receiving a FIX message; for each of a plurality of subscription filters received from a client computer, calculating a True/False (T/F) value indicating whether the FIX message satisfies the subscription filter, where each subscription filter indicates FIX message content of interest; storing the T/F values for the plurality of subscription filters in a T/F array; and returning the T/F array to the client computer. The T/F array is an array of elements, where each element corresponds to a subscription filter. Once the client computer receives the T/F array, the client computer uses the array to determine to which subscribers the FIX message is to be sent. In this manner, the method facilitates the selective delivery of FIX messages by the client computer.
