  • Publication number: 20150350724
Abstract: A plurality of intelligent device systems for use with a wideband signal distribution network, and methods for transmitting digital information and receiving digital and non-digital information onto and off of an RF carrier through a wideband signal distribution network, are disclosed. The intelligent device systems provide networks of intelligent devices that modulate and demodulate digital video, IP video/data/voice and digital wireless onto, and off of, a wideband signal distribution system, such as an analog carrier system, using existing EIA/TIA 568 standard wiring infrastructure. The methods modulate and demodulate digital video, IP video/data/voice and digital wireless onto, and off of, a wideband distribution system, such as an analog carrier system, and separate IP portions from non-IP portions.

  • Patent number: 8997427
Abstract: A roofing product includes coating a substrate with bitumen to yield a bitumen coated substrate having an exposure zone. First granules are adhered to the exposure zone to yield a first granule coating. The first granules have a solar reflectance greater than 35. An adhesive is adhered to at least a portion of the first granule coating. An open portion of the first granule coating that is free of the adhesive is maintained. An overlay of non-white second granules is adhered to the adhesive, such that the overlay of second granules and the adhesive provide a raised structure above a plane of the first granule coating.

  • Patent number: 8925272
Abstract: A roofing shingle includes a shingle body having a buttlap portion with a butt edge and a headlap portion with a head edge. The shingle body also has a first side edge, a second side edge, and an exposure zone extending from the butt edge toward the headlap portion that is configured to be exposed to the environment when the shingle is installed on a roof. A water impermeable sheet is attached to the shingle body. The sheet has a width, length, first end and second end. The width extends from approximately the head edge to approximately the butt edge of the shingle body. The length extends from the first end to the second end. At least a portion of the length extends beyond the first side edge of the shingle body by at least about 2 inches. The sheet is formed from a different material than the shingle body.

An exposure zone has a width that extends from the butt edge toward the headlap portion and is configured to be exposed to the environment when the shingle is installed on a roof. A water impermeable sheet is attached to the shingle body. The sheet has a width with upper and lower edges. The width extends from between about the butt and head edges to beyond the head edge of the shingle body. The width of the shingle body is such that a first distance between the head edge of the shingle body and the upper edge of the water impermeable sheet is equal to or greater than the width of the exposure zone. The sheet is formed from a different material than the shingle body.

  • Publication number: 20140348201
Abstract: By correcting temperature measurements above a surface (such as the ground) for the first-order filtering associated with the thermal inertia of a temperature sensor (such as a thermocouple) that performed the temperature measurements, the heat flux conveyed from the surface by air can be accurately determined without requiring a calibration procedure. Instead, a predefined calibration value may be used. This predefined calibration value may be a function of a size of the temperature sensor and/or a distance between the temperature sensor and the ground. Moreover, the predefined calibration value may have a fixed value for a given size of the temperature sensor. In addition, the measurement of the heat flux conveyed from the surface can be used to accurately determine the residual heat flux that vaporizes water from the surface without a calibration procedure.

  • Patent number: 8157481
Abstract: A method of installing a foundation system for securing the tendons of a TLP to the ocean floor. The foundation system is installed in templateless operations in which a pile is secured to the ocean floor and a tendon receptacle is secured to the pile such that the load from a tendon secured therein is transferred to the ocean floor through coaxially aligned load paths of tendon-to-tendon receptacle-to-pile-to-ocean floor.

  • Publication number: 20100099991
Abstract: An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system produces 3D images of blood flow which depict both the location of blood pools and flow velocity in one image. B mode data is acquired over a volumetric region and inverted to a range of grayscale value which highlights anechoic regions relative to regions of strong echo returns. Flow data is acquired over the same volumetric region and both data sets are volume rendered. The two volume renderings are then merged into a single 3D image in which the B mode pixel values are tinted in accordance with flow at the pixel locations.

  • Publication number: 20100000212
Abstract: The Pulley System Powered by Loss of Buoyancy is a design to configure a buoyant vessel, a pulley, and a counter-weight such that they form a system that can produce a positive work output that can be used to drive gears. The core idea of this design is the use of loss of buoyancy as a power source. The Pulley System Powered by Loss of Buoyancy is a system that can drive gears using loss of buoyancy as the source of power. Industry standard aluminum alloy or carbon fiber composite materials can be used to construct the system. (Refer to FIG. 1.) Vessel A has a floor, 4 walls, and an open top. The vessel is constructed of aluminum alloy or carbon fiber composite material. The vessel is initially buoyant and is placed in a lake, reservoir, or tank with adequate water supply. Vessel A is attached to a counter-weight E via cable that runs through pulleys C and D. Vessel A is also attached via wheels K to rail track G. Electronically activated valves B open and cause Vessel A to be flooded with water.

  • Patent number: 7229014
Abstract: A system for generating charge account numbers, wherein the charge account number is based on a number known to the consumer. For example, the consumer can provide a known number, such as their telephone number, and the system can generate a charge account number using the known number provided. Thus, the known number can be associated with a third party account, such as a telephone service account, and billing for the charge account and the third party account can be combined into one billing statement.

  • Patent number: 7229823
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and compositions for increasing the production of high titre stocks of recombinant AAV (rAAV) through regulation of expression of the AAV REP and CAP proteins. The methods and compositions of the invention are based on the observation that the low level expression of the AAV REP protein increases the production of AAV viral capsid protein and efficiency of packaging resulting in production of higher titre recombinant viral stocks. The invention encompasses recombinant AAV vectors that direct the expression of AAV REP and CAP proteins and the use of such vectors for the production of novel stable cell lines capable of generating high titre rAAV vectors. The invention provides methods for regulating the expression of the AAV REP gene at the transcriptional and post-translational level.
