    Abstract: A method of dynamically allocating usage of a shared resource between user A and user B includes the steps of establishing an initial allocation percentage for user B for using the shared resource and establishing a threshold allocation percentage for user B. The allocation percentage is modified for user B based on the availability of the shared resource to user A. If the shared resource is unavailable to user A, the allocation percentage for user B is decreased. If the shared resource is available to user A, the allocation percentage for user B is increased. Usage of the shared resource by user B is allocated in accordance with the modified allocation percentage provided that the modified allocation percentage is less than a pre-set threshold level. The method is particularly useful in dynamically allocating telephone calls into call centers.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for improving transducer response sensitivity in an ultrasound-imaging system are disclosed. One method includes selecting a desired transmit spectrum, quantifying the transmit channel impulse response, calculating a drive signal that when applied to the transmit channel will produce the desired transmit spectrum and applying the drive signal to the transducer. The method may be applied in principle to the receive channels. An improved ultrasound-imaging system in accordance with the invention includes a transducer and a switch controlled to apply an excitation signal to the transducer in a transmit mode of the ultrasound-imaging system. A signal shaper is configured to generate an excitation signal in response to the impulse response of the transmit channel such that a desired ultrasound energy waveform is generated by the transducer. An adaptable filter responsive to a desired echo spectrum and the impulse response of the receive channel of the system may be included.

The invention provides methods for regulating the expression of the AAV REP gene at the transcriptional and post-translational level.

    Abstract: An engine filter assembly for cleaning cooling air for an internal-combustion engine for use in high-debris environment such as in roofing-removing machines includes a filter housing attached to the machine at a remote position. The filter housing houses a two-stage air filter that consists of a cylindrical-shaped filter element with an outer pre-filter covering. Both the carburetor air inlet and a fan housing leading to the cooling fan on the engine are connected to the filter housing by tubing. A shield protects the engine from direct contact with loose or air-borne materials during the operation of the machine. A thermal sensing device reads the temperature of the engine and automatically shuts down the engine if the temperature rises beyond specification, reducing the chance of engine failure.

    Abstract: An ultrasound imaging system includes an array of transducer elements, a predetermined number of transducer and receiver channels less than the number of transducer elements in the array, and an electronic switch for selecting transducer elements for connection to the transmitter and receiver channels. A method using the imaging system for ultrasound imaging with a sector scan pattern includes determining, from a sector aperture size and a sector aperture location on the array, a mapping of the transducer elements to the transmitter and receiver channels. Focusing delays are determined from a sector angle and a focus for the sector scan pattern, and the focusing delays are converted to mapped focusing delays using the mapping. Ultrasound energy is transmitted and received along sector scan lines of the sector scan pattern in response to the mapped focusing delays, and signals representative of an image along the sector scan lines are provided.
