  • Patent number: 7245721
Abstract: A data encoding device has a serial data input and an encoded serial data output. The serial input is supplied to an encoding unit which combines each input bit with a plurality of additional encoding bits, to derive an encoded output bit and a plurality of updated encoding bits. The function performed by the encoding unit is selected such that over time the encoded output bit stream comprises substantially white noise. The output has constant and flat frequency response, so that the output of the encoding device is merely noise in the absence of an appropriate decoding device.

  • Patent number: 7246080
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for managing supply chain risk are provided. The apparatus, system and method identify which components are most critical to the assembly of the final product, in terms of placing the largest amount of revenue or profit at risk. The impact on profit and revenue of the failure to effectively deliver one or more of these critical products along one or more of the dimensions of quantity, time, space, or quality, is then quantified. The revenue and profit distribution from the supply chain is characterized given a projected distribution supply uncertainty, taking into consideration that input products are only useful if all of the BOM components are present. The revenue at risk is then determined. From the set of possible final products that can be produced, the portfolio of final products with the best risk-return characteristics are determined. Efficient hedges may then be developed.

  • Patent number: 7245886
Abstract: A method and system is described wherein an information signals is gated at a frequency that is a sub-harmonic of the frequency of the desired output signal. In the modulation embodiments, the information signal is modulated as part of the up-conversion process. In a first modulation embodiment, one information signal is phase modulated onto the carrier signal as part of the up-conversion process. In a second modulation embodiment, two information signals are multiplied, and, as part of the up-conversion process, one signal is phase modulated onto the carrier and the other signal is amplitude modulated onto the carrier. In a third modulation embodiment, one information signal is phase modulated onto the “I” phase of the carrier signal as part of the up-conversion process and a second information signal is phase modulated onto the “Q” phase of the carrier as part of the up-conversion process.

  • Patent number: 7245684
Abstract: A system and method for compensating for skew in a programmable clock synchronizer for effectuating data transfer between first circuitry disposed in a first clock domain and second circuitry disposed in a second clock domain. In a system embodiment, a phase detector is provided for detecting a phase between the first and second clock signals. A skew state detector disposed in communication with the phase detector is operable to generate a skew state signal which tracks a phase relationship between the clock signals. A synchronizer control signal generator responds to the skew state signal by generating at least one control signal to compensate for the skew between the first clock signal and the second clock signal.

  • Patent number: 7245558
Abstract: Described is a system and method for detection using an ultrasonic wave. The system may include a first arrangement and a second arrangement. The first arrangement may include a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter transmits an ultrasonic wave along a surface on which items are to be stored and the receiver receives the wave after it has passed over the surface. The second arrangement receives from the first arrangement data corresponding to properties of the received wave. The second arrangement compares the properties of the received wave to properties of the transmitted wave to generate current condition value. The second arrangement determines based on the current condition value and calibration data a current condition state corresponding to a degree of the surface currently occupied by the items. The calibration data includes at least one calibration value and a corresponding calibration condition state.

  • Patent number: 7244073
Abstract: A toothbrush assembly has two main sections, a toothbrush head that incorporates toothbrush bristles and toothpaste holder. The toothbrush head has a bristle end and a shaft with an enclosed channel connecting the bristle end to a threaded end. A flexible tube extends from an opening in the channel to near the top of bristles. The threaded end mates to the chamber. The chamber is coupled to a plunger assembly having a plunger head that seals against the sides of the chamber. The plunger head pulls a vacuum on the chamber when moved laterally in a first direction and pressurizes the chamber when moved laterally in a second direction. A toothpaste tube is threaded into the threaded end of the chamber and toothpaste is extracted from the toothpaste tube into the chamber or delivered from the chamber to the bristles. A universal adapter is used for non-compatible toothpaste tubes.

  • Patent number: 7245666
Abstract: Soft symbol decoder algorithms for multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) receivers reduce the search complexity by searching over fewer than all possible combinations of transmitted symbols to compute log metrics for each transmitted bit from each transmit antenna. In one algorithm, a sub-optimal set of transmitted symbols is computed and the transmitted symbols are restricted to neighboring constellation points of the sub-optimal set. In another algorithm, all constellation points are searched for every antenna except one. In yet another algorithm, constellation points are searched excluding more than one antenna. The non-searched antenna(s) can be handled by either a bit stuffing or a soft slicing technique.
