    Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for passenger authentication and entry for autonomous vehicles are disclosed. A vehicle receives information over a first communication channel from a first mobile device. The information specifies a geographical location. The information causes the vehicle to arrive at the geographical location. The vehicle transmits a first message to a second mobile device indicating that the vehicle has arrived at the geographical location. The first message includes a graphical icon representing the vehicle. The graphical icon is for display on a user interface of the second mobile device. The vehicle receives a second message from the second mobile device over a second communication channel. The second message indicates that the graphical icon was dragged across the user interface into a graphical receptacle displayed on the user interface. Responsive to receiving the second message, at least one door of the vehicle is unlocked.

    Abstract: A controller reduces power output of an inverter of an electric drive system while a sensed temperature associated with the inverter, a sensed current output of the inverter, and parameter values of a busbar of the inverter are indicative of a predicted temperature of the busbar being greater than a threshold to maintain busbar temperature lower than the threshold. The current output of the inverter may be outputted over the busbar. The parameter values are obtainable from a thermal model of the busbar. The thermal model may be derived from testing a test version of the inverter under different drive cycles in which for each a set of information is recorded including a sensed temperature of the test inverter, a sensed current output of the test inverter, and a sensed temperature of the busbar of the test inverter.

    Abstract: An electric drive system includes a power electronics module (PEM) having a DC-link capacitor and an inverter. A controller reduces power output of the inverter while a sensed temperature of an inverter power switch, a sensed current of the PEM, such as a sensed ripple current of the DC-link capacitor, and parameter values of the DC-link capacitor are indicative of a predicted temperature of the capacitor being greater than a threshold to maintain capacitor temperature lower than the threshold. The parameter values are obtainable from a thermal model of the DC-link capacitor. The thermal model may be derived from testing a test version of the PEM under different drive cycles in which for each drive cycle a set of information is recorded including a sensed temperature of the inverter power switch test version, a current of the PEM test version, and a sensed temperature of the DC-link capacitor test version.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a thermal model based on an adaptive filter bank for characterizing heat transfer of a volume of a thermal system. In one embodiment, the adaptive filter bank is used for diagnostics that provides information related to the condition of a thermal system. The diagnostics are based on an analysis of heat transfer characteristics of a dynamic representation of the thermal system. In accordance with the embodiments, thermal coefficients are generated based on an adaptive filter bank. One or more filters are applied to the thermal coefficients based on a sampling rate and one or more estimate thermal coefficient thresholds are generated based on the sampling rate. It is determined whether at least one of the thermal coefficients that is filtered satisfies at least one of the estimated thermal coefficient thresholds. Thereupon, alert information indicative of a diagnostic event is provided based on the determination.

The method may also include a step of generating a thermal image of the scene based on the sensed thermal radiation and a step of analyzing the thermal image by assessing whether the thermal image includes a thermal feature indicative of the presence of leaked liquid outside the container to determine whether a leak exists in the container. In some embodiments, the container may be enclosed in an overwrap. In such a case, the assessed thermal feature may be indicative of liquid being present in an interstitial volume defined between the container and the overwrap.
