  • Publication number: 20150326306
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a wireless receiver are described herein. A user equipment (UE) may process control information in a first time slot of a transmission time interval (TTI) having a plurality of time slots. The UE may, in response to the control information including valid resource assignment information for the UE, receive data in the first time slot and another time slot of the TTI. The UE may, in response to the control information not including valid resource assignment information for the UE, discontinue reception in the TTI. The UE may discontinue reception for another time slot of the TTI. The circuitry may be further configured to receive a transmission indicating that a base station will discontinuously transmit to the UE. The control information may be processed prior to processing any of the data symbols of the TTI.

  • Publication number: 20150229461
Abstract: Embodiments contemplate TDD systems and techniques where timeslots may be allocated as DL, UL, or FDSC; the base station (BS) may be full duplex singled channel (FDSC) capable; and some, all, or none of the UEs (or WTRUs) may be FDSC capable. In one or more embodiments, FDSC1 timeslots may be contemplated that may be used (in some embodiments perhaps exclusively used) by a pair of radios, for example one BS and one UE, both having FD capability. In one or more embodiments, FDSC timeslots may be shared among a BS with FDSC capability and two or more UEs, that may be half duplex (HD). Embodiments also contemplate various FDD systems and techniques, including full duplex FDD systems and techniques.

  • Publication number: 20150180120
Abstract: A scan range of a steerable antenna is extended using a reflecting surface or surfaces within the scan range. Various implementations may also include lenses, and the reflecting surface, lenses, or both may include meta-materials. The antenna may be steered to interact with the reflecting surface, lenses, or both to reflect the beam in a direction not possible using the antenna alone. The scan range may be extended in azimuth, elevation, or both, and beam pattern, and antenna freespace impedance may be controlled.

  • Patent number: 9036821
Abstract: A secret stream of bits begins by receiving a public random stream contained in a wireless communication signal at a transmit/receive unit. The public random stream is sampled and specific bits are extracted according to a shared common secret. These extracted bits are used to create a longer secret stream. The shared common secret may be generated using JRNSO techniques, or provided to the transmit/receive units prior to the communication session. Alternatively, one of the transmit/receive unit is assumed to be more powerful than any potential eavesdropper. In this situation, the powerful transmit/receive unit may broadcast and store a public random stream. The weaker transmit/receive unit selects select random bits of the broadcast for creating a key. The weaker transmit/receive unit sends the powerful transmit/receive unit the selected bit numbers, and powerful transmit/receive unit uses the random numbers to produce the key created by the weaker transmit/receive unit.

  • Patent number: 9025570
Abstract: A method and user equipment for selecting a transport format combination (TFC) is disclosed. Configuration of a plurality of TFCs to use for TFC selection is received, wherein the TFCs of the plurality of TFCs have an order. TFCs to block from TFC selection from the plurality of TFCs is determined, wherein the TFCs to block are based at least on a maximum allowed transmit power. A TFC for transmission of uplink data is selected, wherein the selected TFC is based on the TFC order and wherein the selected TFC is a TFC that is not blocked from TFC selection.

  • Patent number: 8750312
Abstract: A method for multicasting a packet begins by providing a buffer for each of two user equipments (UEs) in communication with a base station. A determination is made whether there is a previously unsent packet at the base station. A second determination is made whether both UE buffers are non-empty. A non-empty buffer is flushed if there is no previously unsent packet and if one of the buffers is non-empty. A packet is selected to be transmitted if there is a previously unsent packet or if both buffers are non-empty. The buffers are updated based on feedback received from the UEs.

  • Publication number: 20140133438
Abstract: An apparatus is configured to communicate with a computer through a communications interface. The apparatus includes a soft mobile phone client and a cellular modem. The soft mobile client provides a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication session, and includes a first set of a plurality of communications modules which does not include a non-access stratum (NAS) module. The cellular modem provides cellular Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity to the computer, and includes a second set of a plurality of modules having a NAS module. The soft mobile phone client establishes IP connectivity through the cellular modem and provides IP connectivity to the computer on a condition that a pre-existing IP connection via the computer is not available. The soft mobile phone client includes a software module encoded to implement a graphical user interface (GUI) function, which enables a VoIP communication session to be initiated by the user.

  • Patent number: 8718023
Abstract: Upon the UE transmission power requirement exceeding the maximum or allowable transmission power the MAC may be informed for subsequent TFC selection of all TFCs that currently exceed this limit. The UE may then chose the TFC with the next lower transmission power requirement and the sequence will continue until an acceptable TFC is determined. The system also enables the replacement of the TFCs in the TFCS and advanced determination of non-supported TFCs. The TFCs that require transmission power greater then the maximum or allowed UE transmission power shall be determined continuously in every TTI, not just in TTIs where the maximum power has been exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20140086150
Abstract: A user may point a control device at a controllable device for which control is desired, and the control device may detect the targeted controllable device. Additionally, the control device may detect a plurality of wireless nodes and list the available wireless nodes. For example, the control device may identify wireless nodes associated with a particular room in the house, or the control device may detect the wireless nodes within a certain range. The list may be a selectable list and a user may select the desired device to control from the list. Upon detection or user selection, the control device may establish control of the wireless node and initiate actions associated with the selected device.

  • Patent number: 8681744
Abstract: The present invention is a receiver which includes a blind code detection device for determining the identity of a plurality of channels over which information is to be transmitted when the identity of all channels is not known by the receiver. The blind code detection device generates a candidate channel list filled with the identify of selected channels out of the plurality of channels. A multi-user detection device, responsive to the blind code detection device, processes those channels in the candidate code list.

  • Patent number: 8665899
Abstract: A method and apparatus for integrating a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) client in a wireless PC card are disclosed. A soft mobile phone client is combined with a cellular PC card to create a single physical device that is capable of providing VoIP services to a computer user through the cellular capabilities of the device itself, or alternatively, through any other Internet connectivity available to the computer. When a user inserts the VoIP client/Cellular PC Card into a computer, a graphical user interface (GUI) within the connection manager software is launched allowing the user to communicate VoIP function commands to the VoIP client. A check for Internet connectivity may be performed, at which time the Radio portion of the enhanced PC card may be put into an idle state if connectivity is detected, or may alternatively establish Internet connectivity through the cellular portion of the enhanced PC card.
