  • Publication number: 20150287220
Abstract: Techniques for calculating sub-pixel coverage values for text to be displayed, so as to enable caching of the sub-pixel coverage values. The sub-pixel coverage values may enable a linear combination of color information for the text with color information for one or more other, overlapping display elements for calculating composite color values to be used in controlling a display. Such composite color values to be used in controlling sub-pixels of a display may be calculated, in some embodiments, without performing a gamma correction process. Also described are techniques for retrieving cached sub-pixel coverage values and combining the values with color information for text and for other, overlapping display elements to calculate composite color values for sub-pixels of a display. Further described are techniques for cached font color values for the text in a shared memory location, and use of the cached font color values to composite color values for each of multiple pixels.

  • Publication number: 20150287045
Abstract: A system for monitoring compliance with a retail display program includes a beacon coupled to a promotional display structure. The beacon is configured to transmit a beacon signal that includes a beacon ID and is configured to be received by a user device. A database stores the beacon ID along with a specified retail facility and time period associated with the promotional display structure. A computing device is configured to receive a beacon data record at least partially generated by the user device. The beacon data record includes the beacon ID, a time stamp, and location-specific data associated with a retail facility in which the beacon data record is generated. The computing device is configured to compare the location-specific data and time stamp to the specified retail facility and time period to determine whether the promotional display structure is displayed in the specified retail facility during the specified time period.

  • Publication number: 20150204376
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device designed to permit various items to be hung on a vertical surface (e.g., the hanging of a picture or other piece of framed art or memorabilia on a wall), to a method of making such a device and to a method of using same. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a two piece device where a first body, or rail, piece and a second body, or rail, piece each engage one of either the object, regardless of whether or not such object is framed or unframed, to be hung or the wall on which the object to be hung is to be placed, wherein the first piece and the second piece are formed so as to engage one another thereby resulting in the hanging of the object on a desired place on a wall. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a two piece wall hanging device that permits the level hanging of an object on a wall regardless of whether or not each of the two pieces of the device are attached in a level manner to each of the wall and the object to be hung.

  • Patent number: 9079589
Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle system includes controlling a vehicle system having powered units that propel the vehicle system. A trip plan directs at least one of the powered units to remain in a non-propulsion generating mode during the trip. The method further includes slowing and/or stopping the vehicle system in contravention to the first trip plan, activating the at least one of the powered units out of the non-propulsion generating mode into an active, propulsion-generating mode when the vehicle system accelerates after the at least one of slowing or stopping in contravention to the first trip plan, and switching the at least one of the powered units back to the non-propulsion generating mode after the vehicle system achieves a designated speed following accelerating after the at least one of the slowing or stopping of the vehicle system in contravention to the first trip plan.

  • Publication number: 20150106431
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for servers to redirect client requests to other servers in order to distribute client traffic among the servers. A client is assigned to a server although the client may be unaware of that assignment. When the client accesses a server, a server possibly identified to the client by a name service, the server checks the client's assignment. If the client is not assigned to this server, then in some scenarios this server redirects the client to its assigned server. The client responds by sending its request to the assigned server. In other scenarios, the first server accessed by the client proxies the client's traffic to the assigned server. A database is kept of client-to-server assignments. If the present load distribution is less than ideal (e.g., clients are assigned to an unavailable server), then the assignment database is updated to reflect how the load should be distributed.

  • Patent number: 8961354
Abstract: An infinitely variable speed amplifier comprising a continuously variable unit (“variator”), two differential gear trains, and four shafts. Two of the shafts connect to opposite ends of the variator and to two connections of each differential gear train, respectively. The third connections of the first and second differential gear trains are connected to the input and output shafts respectively. Ratios and other parameters are chosen so that an acceptable range of transmission speeds can be achieved without the use of clutches while also minimizing the power crossing the variator. Furthermore, this invention includes a variant that is a compound infinitely variable speed amplifier that provides a wider performance range.
