  • Publication number: 20170146513
Abstract: A diagnostic device is provided that comprises a light source for transmitting a light beam through a blood sample to a light detector, and a permanent magnet, wherein one of the permanent magnet and blood sample is automatically movable relative to the other between a “HIGH” magnetic state position and a “LOW” magnetic state position, such that a substantially high magnetic field is applied to the blood sample causing any hemozoin in the blood sample to tend toward perpendicular orientation to the substantially magnetic field and the suppression, or enhancement of light based on its polarization, and a zero-to-near-zero magnetic field is applied to the blood sample causing the randomization of any hemozoin in the blood sample and a baseline amount of light to pass through the blood sample in the “LOW” magnetic state position.

  • Patent number: 9646241
Abstract: An electromagnetic radiation decoupler for decoupling radiation in the wavelength range ?min to ?max. The decoupler has a first conductor layer in contact with a dielectric layer which comprises at least one area of absence and the thickness of the decoupler is less than ?min/4n, where n is the refractive index of the dielectric. The dielectric layer may be sandwiched between two conductor layers, one of which has the structure described above. The invention is also directed to methods of using and various articles comprising such a decoupler.

  • Patent number: 9616450
Abstract: Coat-in-place assemblies and methods to provide an aesthetically pleasing sprinkler assembly. A coat-in-place assembly includes a sprinkler body having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a thermally responsive trigger disposed adjacent the distal portion; and an escutcheon centered about the distal portion of the sprinkler body to define a void between the sprinkler axis and the escutcheon. A coating-inhibiting-cap encloses and protects the thermally responsive trigger between the sprinkler body and the cap. The cap extends into the void and is radially spaced inward relative to the escutcheon so as expose surfaces of the escutcheon for coating.

  • Publication number: 20170075366
Abstract: A vehicle system includes a processor programmed to synchronize a vehicle setting based on a home setting received from a home network. The processor is in communication with the home network via a transceiver. The processor is programmed to establish communication with the home network based on a vehicle start request, receive the home system setting from the home network if a vehicle location is less than a predefined distance, and synchronize one or more vehicle settings based on the home system setting.

  • Patent number: 9590306
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for providing a substantially surface independent tagging system are disclosed. A resonant dielectric cavity is defined between upper and lower conducting layers, and closed at one end by a conducting base portion. Incident radiation couples into the cavity and is resonantly enhanced. An electronic device or tag paced at the edge of the cavity experiences a high electric field strength on account of this enhancement and is driven into operation.

  • Patent number: 9585144
Abstract: Various approaches enable a computing device (e.g., mobile phone, tablet computer, etc.), serving as a client to inform a group owner (GO) of a peer-to-peer (P2P) group in a Wi-Fi Direct network or other such network regarding the timing of the group owner's beacon schedule. Advantageously, this synchronization of the beacon schedule between the client and the GO can enable improved throughput and latency of the client device when the client device is in concurrent mode (i.e., when the P2P client is connected to two networks such as a legacy Wi-Fi network with an AP and a P2P network with a GO).

  • Patent number: 9518756
Abstract: An external suspension system for supporting an inflatable air duct includes a series of external hangers that help hold the duct open while the duct is deflated. In some embodiments, the suspension system supports the duct at a series of points that are broadly distributed in a staggered pattern across the duct, yet the entire duct can be suspended from a single overhead cable, even if the duct is a stepped tube with multiple diameters. The system includes novel ways of locking the hangers to the duct and to the overhead cable.

  • Patent number: 9500108
Abstract: A silencer having an outer shell with a first opening at a first end is configured with two flow paths and designed to attenuate sound waves. A tube is positioned within the outer shell, the tube having a first end and a second end forming a path through the interior of the silencer. A baffle is positioned between the inner tube and the outer shell to form a second path through the silencer. The first path may be longer than the second path. The sum of the cross-sectional areas of the first path and second path may be equal to the cross-sectional area of the first opening.

  • Publication number: 20160298404
Abstract: A system and method for treating a portion of a wellbore that includes a bottom hole assembly (BHA) connected to a work string. The BHA includes a packing element movable between an unset position and a set position and a locator device movable between retracted position and expanded positions. The locator device may be a locator collet. The locator collet may be expanded by a cone movable with respect to the collet. The expanded locator device is configured to engage a profile in a ported tubular within the wellbore. The engagement between the locator device and the profile selectively prevents further movement of the BHA and provides an indication of the location the BHA. The packing element may then be actuated and the wellbore treated through a port in the ported tubular. The BHA may then be moved to a different ported housing to treat another portion of the wellbore.
