  • Publication number: 20190124036
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for blinder avoidance in social networking interactions includes executing a social networking data processing system in memory of a host computing system to provide a social networking service to different users in a social network. The method also includes defining in memory of the host computing system a user interface interaction for a user interface of the social networking service, and a corresponding user interface change in connection with a presentation of a status update for a user in different streams of other users of the social networking service. In response to detecting the user interface interaction with respect to a stream of status updates presented to one of the other users, the corresponding user interface change is performed in the user interface in connection with the presentation of the status update for the user in the stream.

  • Publication number: 20190108211
Abstract: A method for maintaining conversational cadence may include determining, by a processor, a conversational cadence associated with a user in a social network. The conversational cadence may be determined based on a plurality of messages previously transmitted by the user. The method may also include detecting, by the processor, a reduction in the conversational cadence of the user. The method may further include providing, by the processor, a set of fill-in messages that create an appearance to another user in the social network that there is no reduction in the conversational cadence.

  • Patent number: 10257149
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for handling an overwhelming amount of messages in an activity stream. Messages in an activity stream, such as an activity stream of a social networking system, of a user are monitored. Those monitored messages that contain an actionable item or event are identified. The messages that contain an actionable item or event are prioritized in a list based on one or more of the following factors: the deadline, the relationship of the sender of the message to the user, the user's desired social relationship with the sender of the message and the event schedule. The prioritized list is then displayed to the user. In this manner, the user will be able to handle the overwhelming amount of messages in an activity stream by determining which posts with an actionable item or event to respond prior to other posts in the user's activity stream.

  • Publication number: 20190104280
Abstract: For an audio transmission, a computer system detects sounds in the audio transmission, where the audio transmission is for participants in a conversation and the conversation includes spoken word sounds of the participants. The method includes determining, by the computer system, that one of the sounds is transmitted from where one of the participants is located and that the one of the sounds indicates a distraction. Responsive to determining that that one of the sounds indicates a distraction, the computer system generates a predetermined action to mitigate the distraction.

  • Patent number: 10242113
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for improving the discoverability of messages on a social network. The creation of a proposed message that requests a response from a target audience is detected. The social network is then searched to identify search terms and posts related to the proposed message. Upon identifying the search terms, the search terms are ranked in order of usage among the identified posts. A list of identified search terms in order of rank is then presented to the user to modify the proposed message. The proposed message is modified using a search term selected by the user from the list of search terms. The modified message is then posted on the social network. In this manner, the message created by the user has been modified to improve the discoverability of the message on the social network and to increase responses from an appropriate target audience.

  • Patent number: 10241996
Abstract: An electronic message comprising text generated by a first user can be identified and at least a second user can be identified as a recipient. At least one n-gram contained in the text of the electronic message can be identified by performing natural language processing on the text. A first user profile of the first user and a second user profile of the second user can be accessed. Based on the first user profile and the second user profile, at least one shared user context of the first user and the second user relating to the at least one n-gram can be determined. The at least one shared user context of the first user and the second user relating to the at least one n-gram can be presented to at least the second user.

  • Patent number: 10237411
Abstract: A method for simultaneously participating in a plurality web conferences may include generating, by a computer system, a web conference instance for each web conference being joined. The method may also include polling a corresponding web conferencing server for web conference information by each web conference instance on the computer system. The method may additionally include polling for both audio and video information in response to a chosen web conference instance being an active web conference instance on the computer system. The polling may be performed at a predetermined time interval or polling term. The method may further include setting a polling term for each inactive web conference instance on the computer system that is longer than the predetermined time interval or polling term of the active web conference instance.

  • Publication number: 20190079579
Abstract: A method, computer system, and a computer program product for interpreting conversation engagement is provided. The present invention may include receiving, by an augmented reality device, an input, wherein the augmented reality device is associated with a user. The present invention may also include processing the received input. The present invention may then include analyzing the input based on the processed input. The present invention may further include determining that the user is engaged in a conversation with an individual based on the analyzed input. The present invention may also include capturing a plurality of core parameters between the user and the individual based on the determined engaged conversation. The present invention may then include analyzing the captured plurality of core parameters. The present invention may further include delivering a representation of the analyzed plurality of core parameters to the user on the augmented reality device.

  • Publication number: 20190058974
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for ensuring that important messages are viewed by the intended recipient. A time-to-live pattern for a message identified as being important is determined for the target group, where the time-to-live pattern indicates a set of presentation criteria (e.g., impression analysis, such as the number of views of the message). The target group refers to the intended recipient(s) of the message identified as being important. The message is then monitored in the network environment with respect to the time-to-live pattern using the set of presentation criteria of the time-to-live pattern. An action (e.g., pinning the message for a period of time) may then be performed to increase the priority of the message for the target group if the time-to-live pattern has underachieved within a threshold period of time (i.e., has not met the requirements of the presentation criteria within the threshold period of time).

  • Patent number: 10210193
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a computer program product for processing tabular data. In various embodiments, an electronic document is received through a network, along with associated metadata. A plurality of table markers, or tabular data markers, are identified, in response to analyzing the received electronic document for said markers. References and citations associated with the plurality of tabular data markers are identified. A graphical representation of the relationship between identified tabular data markers and the identified references is generated. A uniqueness score is calculated, based on the generated graph and an ingestion plan is generated for the received electronic documents based on the calculated uniqueness score value.

  • Publication number: 20190050386
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system comprising at least one processor and at least one memory, the at least one memory comprising instructions which are executed by the at least one processor and configure the processor to implement a document processing system. A spell check confidence component executing within the document processing system records a mapping of misspelled words to corrected words for set of documents. The spell check confidence component generates an error-to-correction frequency model based on the mapping. A parser executing within the document processing system parses an input document to extract words in the error-to-correction frequency model. The spell check confidence component calculates a precision score for each word in the input document found in the error-to-correction frequency model. The precision score represents a probability that the extracted word is spelled correctly as intended in the input document.
