Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for blinder avoidance in social networking interactions includes executing a social networking data processing system in memory of a host computing system to provide a social networking service to different users in a social network. The method also includes defining in memory of the host computing system a user interface interaction for a user interface of the social networking service, and a corresponding user interface change in connection with a presentation of a status update for a user in different streams of other users of the social networking service. In response to detecting the user interface interaction with respect to a stream of status updates presented to one of the other users, the corresponding user interface change is performed in the user interface in connection with the presentation of the status update for the user in the stream.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for maintaining relationships between users in a social network. Online interactions between users in the social network are monitored. A period of inactivity of communication from a first user to a second user in the social network is determined based on the time of the last communication from the first user to the second user. If the period of inactivity exceeds a threshold, then a communication posted by the second user in the social network is selected, such as based on popularity. The selected communication posted by the second user is then emphasized in an activity stream (e.g., news feed) of the first user. In this manner, by emphasizing a communication posted by the second user in an activity stream of the first user, the relationship between the first and second users may continue to be active.

Abstract: The urgency of a message received for a user engaging in a computer-generated simulation is determined in response to receipt of the message. The user can be notified of receipt of the message using a simulated notifying object that is consistent with an ambience of the simulation. The present invention may include capturing a plurality of image data depicting a relative location of a user. The present invention may also include identifying an individual within the captured image data. Messages in an activity stream, such as an activity stream of a social networking system, of a user are monitored. Those monitored messages that contain an actionable item or event are identified. The messages that contain an actionable item or event are prioritized in a list based on one or more of the following factors: the deadline, the relationship of the sender of the message to the user, the user's desired social relationship with the sender of the message and the event schedule. The prioritized list is then displayed to the user. In this manner, the user will be able to handle the overwhelming amount of messages in an activity stream by determining which posts with an actionable item or event to respond prior to other posts in the user's activity stream.

The creation of a proposed message that requests a response from a target audience is detected. The social network is then searched to identify search terms and posts related to the proposed message. Upon identifying the search terms, the search terms are ranked in order of usage among the identified posts. A list of identified search terms in order of rank is then presented to the user to modify the proposed message. The proposed message is modified using a search term selected by the user from the list of search terms. The modified message is then posted on the social network. In this manner, the message created by the user has been modified to improve the discoverability of the message on the social network and to increase responses from an appropriate target audience.

Textual data is identified within the identified tabular data, of the analyzed plurality of electronic documents. Textual hints are generated, based on the identified textual data within the identified tabular data. References are identified, wherein references are based on matching textual hints with textual data in the received plurality of electronic documents. A count of references is calculated, associated with one or more sets of tabular data. A priority score is calculated based on the count of references, and an ingestion plan is generated, based on the calculated priority score.

An identified category for the message from the source may be identified based on a set of candidate categories.
