Abstract: A measuring gauge constructed of a transparent “L” shaped body having an elongated first arm and a second shorter arm disposed at 90 degrees to the first arm and defining a notch therein which forms a triangle with the first leg of the triangle angularly disposed with respect to the outer edge of the second arm. A plurality of indicia are carried by the two legs of the gauge. The indicia each include a center band sandwiched between outer bands with the inner and outer bands being of contrasting colors. The side edges of the gauge are inserted between the flaps and back panels of the envelope into engagement with a gum line and a depth of penetration is observed by determining the intersection of an edge of the envelope with the indicium along a side edge of the gauge thereby determining whether or not the envelope is in or out of specification.

Abstract: An investment system provides for multiple employers. The employers withhold payments to employees according to preferences defined by the employee. The employer forwards the withholding to an investment account manager who manages accounts for each employee. The account manager pools the withholding from the employees and invests the money in proportion to the preferences stated by the employees in the plan. Employees may change employers without affecting their accounts. Tax information may be calculated by the system to ensure accurate gratuity accounting and tax compliance on the part of the employer.

Abstract: There is provided a cellular antenna allowing mechanical azimuth adjustment in combination with adjustment of one or more other antenna attribute such as electrical down tilt, electrical beam width or electrical azimuth adjustment. An integrated control arrangement is provided which can utilise either serial, wireless or RF feed lines to convey communications. A multiband embodiment provides azimuth adjustment for both bands by utilising mechanical and electrical azimuth adjustment. Systems incorporating such antennas and methods of controlling them are also provided.

Abstract: A phase shifting network including a main power divider having a main input, first and second main outputs, and means for dividing power received at the main input between the first and second main outputs. A first differential phase shifter is provided. The first differential phase shifter has a first input, first and second outputs, and a first phase shift adjuster which can be moved to adjust the phase difference between the first and second outputs. The first input is connected to the first main output and the first differential phase shifter is configured to divide power from the first input between the first and second outputs. A second differential phase shifter is also provided. The second differential phase shifter has a second input, third and fourth outputs, and a second phase shift adjuster which can be moved to adjust the phase difference between the third and fourth outputs.

Abstract: An apparatus for washing a cored head of a leafy vegetable or a coreable vegetable including a support, a head holder and a release. The support includes a support mount for mounting the apparatus adjacent a conveyor and a support frame extending from the support mount. The head holder is pivotally connected to the support frame and movable between a first support position and a second release position. The holder is adapted to support a cored head of a vegetable when in the support position. The holder has an opening sufficiently large to permit a wash spray to project through the opening for washing the cored head. The release is affixed to the head holder, whereby moving the release moves the holder from the first support position to the second release position thus allowing displacement by gravity of the cored head onto the conveyor. A method of washing a cored head is also described.

Abstract: An antenna system including a coverage antenna (2) with a coverage beam pattern; and an auxiliary antenna (3) with an auxiliary beam pattern. The auxiliary beam pattern is arranged to perform sidelobe suppression, null steering, null addition, or null-fill. In the case where the auxiliary antenna is used to perform sidelobe suppression, the auxiliary beam pattern has a mainlobe with: an amplitude lower than an amplitude of a mainlobe of said coverage beam pattern; a width lower than a width of said mainlobe of said coverage beam pattern; a phase different to a phase of a sidelobe of said coverage beam pattern; and a direction which is selected so as to at least partially suppress said sidelobe.

Abstract: A machine for slicing a bakery product, including a supported table surface having an aperture for the passage therethrough of sliced products; a pair of spaced-apart riser blocks projecting above said table surface; at least one power-driven cutting device disposed adjacent to said riser blocks, the cutting device having a horizontal blade extending above said table surface at a distance substantially corresponding to the slice thickness required, and a power-driven turntable, revolvable on a vertical axis and spaced above said cutting device, the turntable rigidly supporting at least one open-ended feed hopper adapted to contain a stack of bakery product items, the lowest item in said stack resting on the table surface and being pushed by the hopper into contact with said cutting device to produce a slice.
