  • Publication number: 20090194442
Abstract: A media storage container has a sleeve defining a media disc holding pocket that holds the disc in an unstressed configuration. Compressible shoulders disposed at the neck of the pocket retain the media disc within the pocket. In one configuration, the container has a base that defines the pocket and a cover that pivots between open and closed configurations. In other configurations, the base having the disc pocket is carried within a sleeve. The media disc may be loaded and unloaded through an opening in the top or the side of the base. The base may optionally define a window that allows one or both of the major disc surfaces to be viewed and engaged by the user's finger without allowing the disc to be removed through the window.

  • Patent number: 5960949
Abstract: A selectively adaptable holder or carrier for recordings ("records") is disclosed which includes a universally configured base (record-holder) which is made to be slidably receivable within a sleeve-like outer package component, and a plurality of different record-retaining members that are interchangeably mountable upon a universal mount structure provided on the base. In one embodiment, the universal mount structure may comprise a cylindrical projection formed centrally on the base, and the interchangeable, selectively mountable record-retaining members may include a corresponding cylindrical recess to fit over such projection, to be secured thereto by adhesive or other bonding agent or process.

  • Patent number: 5819928
Abstract: A package for releasably storing products such as compact discs comprising a base portion constructed from a single lightweight readily disposable blank of material and a disc holder made from a lightweight material such as plastic. The system maintains positive self-retention of the disc holder within the base portion by incorporating apertures in the flaps which engage bosses near the front of the disc holder when the disc holder is fully inserted into the base. As a result, the system prevents inadvertent outward movement of the disc holder due to gravity, random jostling, etc. The system also precludes complete removal of the disc holder from the base by including a widthwise flap which is contiguous with the lower major panel of the base and which is adapted to engage a shoulder on the underside of the disc holder.
