  • Publication number: 20120018163
Abstract: A method and system for cleaning the perforations of well casings employs a non-rotating tubing string attached to a hydraulic jet carrier body. The carrier body has outwardly extending arms which terminate in spray nozzles, each of the nozzles expelling a stream of fluid under pressure against the well casing with an inertial force. The nozzles are oriented on the carrier body such that the reactive force for each jet is directionally offset with respect to the central axis of the carrier, thereby creating a twisting moment tending to rotate the carrier body about its central axis. The nozzles are located a fixed distance from the carrier body which is between about ½ and 1½ inches from the well casing perforations in use.

  • Publication number: 20120003445
Abstract: A method of forming a porcelain enamel article includes firing a porcelain enamel base over a metal substrate at a first temperature. A porcelain enamel cover coat can be fired over the base at a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature. The fired cover coat forms a preselected background color. A decal applied over the cover coat can be fired at a third temperature that is lower than the second temperature. The decal has a predetermined pattern on a carrier and has at least one open region. The carrier burns off and the predetermined pattern of the decal can form a porcelain enamel image fixed to the cover coat. The porcelain enamel image can have more than one color and the at least one open region can allow the preselected background color of the cover coat to show through and be incorporated into the image to form an identical color match in the image and the cover coat.

  • Patent number: 8079264
Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting samples that may include a curvature that varies from sample to sample comprises a scanning element, a feed mechanism, and a pivot mechanism. The scanning element transmits and receives a signal to and from the sample as the sample passes by, thereby building an image or profile of the sample. The feed mechanism includes a drive motor coupled to a series of pulleys and belts that form an open-ended chain. The pulleys rotate when driven by the drive motor and are coupled to an array of rollers that rotate as well to propel a inspection sample past the scanning element. The pivot mechanism includes a series of primary and secondary links that also form an open-ended chain. The primary links are coupled to the rollers and the combination pivots in unison to form an arc that matches the curvature of the sample in order to maintain a fixed distance between the sample and the scanning element.

  • Patent number: 8003147
Abstract: The present invention relates to superior dried whey protein products which have a flavor, aroma and color not possessed by conventionally spray dried whey protein products, as a result of having a lower concentration of oxidative by-products. Also provided are dried protein products wherein the protein is selected from the group consisting of whey protein, soy protein, milk protein and mixtures thereof. Also provided are methods for making the dried protein-based products which involve spraying a protein-containing feed stock into a localized cloud of a nonreactive gas under controlled temperature conditions.

  • Patent number: 7930497
Abstract: Provided are an article of manufacture, method, and system for using multiple sidefiles to buffer writes to primary storage volumes to transfer to corresponding secondary storage volumes in a mirror relationship. Information is provided on a mirror relationship for primary storage volumes and corresponding secondary storage volumes, wherein writes to the primary storage volumes are transferred to the secondary storage volumes according to the mirror relationship. A plurality of sidefiles are associated with the primary storage volumes in the mirror relationship. A write is received to one of the primary storage volumes in the mirror relationship. One of the sidefiles associated with the primary storage volume for which the write is received is selected and the write is buffered in the selected sidefile. Writes to the primary storage volumes buffered in the sidefiles are transferred to the corresponding secondary storage volumes.

  • Publication number: 20100300420
Abstract: A pressure transducer or other means of measuring pressure inside a vessel is used to measure the pressure of a gas inside a pneumatic powered projectile gun. A valve is used to control the pressure inside the gun by controlling the amount of air entering from a compressed gas source at a higher pressure. Finally, a second valve is used to release the gas inside the gun into the barrel section, firing the projectile.

  • Publication number: 20100246080
Abstract: In high-current electrical devices protected by fuses, additional performance data besides whether or not a fuse is blown is useful for diagnostics, repair, and preventing emerging failures from reaching a level that damages the device. An intelligent fuse-holder includes a built-in current sensor. The current sensor signals are passed through an A/D converter and analyzed by a microcontroller. Through an interface, a user can program the fuse-holder to periodically degauss the current sensor coil to improve performance or turn the sensor power off to conserve power. The user may also control various I/O signals carrying information about the fuse, the intelligent electronics, or the host board on which the fuse-holder is mounted.

  • Publication number: 20100052425
Abstract: A group of solar power stations with inverters are adjusted in order to achieve optimum power output in accordance with maximum power-point tracking (MPPT). The MPPT data is used to perform adjustments. Power measurement factors, including Maximum Power Points (MPPs) are established to represent a bus-voltage setting that produces the maximum power output from an individual photovoltaic panel. These settings are established for the group so as to optimize power output under a variety of operating conditions.
