  • Publication number: 20080074234
Abstract: An aftermarket keyless starter for a vehicle including a smart ignition system and an OEM security system is provided. The OEM security system includes an OEM transponder for user verification and an OEM reader for reading the OEM transponder when the OEM transponder is within a range R of the OEM reader. The OEM transponder stores an OEM identification code. The aftermarket keyless starter includes a secure box which is outside of the range R for isolating the OEM transponder from the OEM security system, an aftermarket reader, an aftermarket microcontroller, and an aftermarket transmitter. The aftermarket microcontroller is operable to receive the keyless start command and respond thereto by having the aftermarket reader read the OEM identification code and retransmitting the OEM identification code to the OEM reader. The engine start command is transmitted to the smart ignition system subsequent to the sending of the keyless start command.

  • Publication number: 20070284250
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for more efficiently performing electrophoresis and electroblotting. A sandwich structure includes an electrophoresis gel affixed to a blotting membrane. A gel casting and/or running frame is used to hold the sandwich. A method and composition that allows separation of the gel and membrane after performing a combined electrophoresis and electroblotting operation so as to allow further operations to be performed individually upon the membrane, gel or both. A uniform electrophoretic field may be created by surrounding the sandwich structure using an insulating fluid; the insulating fluid is then swapped for a conducting fluid to allow application of an electroblotting field. An apparatus automatically manages fluid exchange and actuation of electrophoresis and electroblotting electrodes. A plurality of parallel cavities may be used to hold multiple gels or gel membrane sandwiches.

  • Publication number: 20070277984
Abstract: A fluid flow control device having at least one bypass valve that is actuated in response to the movement of an annular body housed in the device. The annular body may be housed in a cylindrical housing and be a buoyant or non-buoyant body, such as a non-buoyant annular ring. The movement of the annular body in the cylindrical housing actuates the one or more bypass valves. Flow through the bypass valves returns the fluid to its source, for example, to an aquifer while maintaining a desired liquid level. The fluid flow control device can provide an effective means for regulating the elevation of subsurface fluids, for example, ground water, to enhance the efficiency of gas extraction from subsurface strata, for example, the extraction of methane from water and methane containing coal beds. Systems and methods of extracting gases from subsurface strata are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7284189
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for providing up-to-date relevant information for an electronic document template, and documents created using a template. Each template is given a unique identifier when it is created. When a document is created using the template, the same template identifier is associated with the document. Various pieces of information written or assimilated by or for the author or authors of the template that help to explain how to use the template are associated with the template identifiers and stored in a remote data source. When a template or a document created using a template is opened that contains an identifier, a message is sent to the data store that results in the relevant information being retrieved. Retrieved relevant information is displayed in a pane adjacent to the template or the document created using the template.

  • Patent number: 7197491
Abstract: An architecture and implementation of a dynamic RMI server configuration hierarchy to support federated search and update across heterogeneous datastores. The RMI server configuration hierarchy supports searching for data in one or more heterogeneous data sources within a computer system. A request for data is received at a federated data source. Then, a server is selected to process the request based on a load of the server and based on whether the server can satisfy the request for data.

  • Publication number: 20070057806
Abstract: A high-intensity visual light indicates the operating status of outdoor equipment generally and agricultural equipment specifically. In one aspect, the indicator light provides long-distance visual diagnostic annunciation of the equipment's status using visual patterning indicative of the operating condition of the machine. Thus, the indicator light may provide information regarding a plurality of normal operating conditions for the equipment, beyond simply whether power is present or lacking. Additionally, in the event that the equipment is not working properly, the indicator light may provide information regarding the particular anomaly involved. The indicator light may be a single color, for example, white, that is capable of patterned flashing to indicate status. The high-intensity light may be, in a preferred embodiment, a xenon strobe. A logic circuit may be employed to create the desired flash sequence.

  • Publication number: 20070006659
Abstract: A directional vibration measurement system as described herein includes a magnetic element coupled to a vibrating component, at least two magnetic induction sensors configured to generate sensor signals in response to movement of the magnetic element, and a controller/processor coupled to the sensors for obtaining and processing the sensor signals. The sensors are positioned such that the direction of vibration can be resolved by analyzing and processing the sensor signals. In one example embodiment, the phase relationship between the sensor signals is analyzed to determine the extent of vibration in a first direction and the extent of vibration in a second direction. In another example embodiment, the directional vibration measurement system generates sum and difference signals based upon the sensor signals, and the sum and difference signals are analyzed to determine the extent of vibration in a first direction and the extent of vibration in a second direction.
