Abstract: A novel and useful controlled quantum shift register for transporting particles from one quantum dot to another in a quantum structure. The shift register incorporates a succession of qdots with tunneling paths and control gates. Applying appropriate control signals to the control gates, a particle or a split quantum state is made to travel along the shift register. The shift register also includes ancillary double interaction where two pairs of quantum dots provide an ancillary function where the quantum state of one pair is replicated in the second pair. The shift register also provides bifurcation where an access path is split into two or more paths. Depending on the control pulse signals applied, quantum dots are extended into multiple paths. Control of the shift register is provided by electric control pulses. An optional auxiliary magnetic field provides additional control of the shift register.

  • Publication number: 20190390194
Abstract: A data storage medium is disclosed comprising a dried product formed by drying a salt solution dried together with artificially synthesized DNA molecules encoding digital information. The cation in the salt may be calcium, magnesium, lanthanum, or another cation. The anion in the salt may be chloride, phosphate, or another anion. The DNA is protected from degradation by drying with the salt. Stored DNA may be freed from the salt for sequencing or other analysis by mixing the dried product with a chelator. The dry product formed from DNA and a salt may contain more than 30% DNA by weight and degrade at rates that are less than a third of rate at which untreated DNA degrades.

  • Publication number: 20190393400
Abstract: Novel and useful quantum structures that provide various control functions. Particles are brought into close proximity to interact with one another and exchange information. After entanglement, the particles are moved away from each other but they still carry the information contained initially. Measurement and detection are performed on the particles from the entangled ensemble to determine whether the particle is present or not in a given qdot. A quantum interaction gate is a circuit or structure operating on a relatively small number of qubits. Quantum interaction gates implement several quantum functions including a controlled NOT gate, quantum annealing gate, controlled SWAP gate, a controlled Pauli rotation gate, and ancillary gate. These quantum interaction gates can have numerous shapes including double V shape, H shape, X shape, L shape, I shape, etc.

  • Publication number: 20190390572
Abstract: An alignment system and method for aligning the shaft centerline of rotating equipment positioned on opposing roller stands are provided. The system includes a laser transmission unit on the first stand and a target unit on the second stand. The laser transmission unit includes a laser that transmits a laser beam to a target on the target unit. When the laser beam contacts the center of the target, the roller stands are aligned. The system may be automated to detect the position of the laser beam relative to the target center and to adjust, as needed, the position of one of or both the roller stands using hydraulic cylinders coupled to a roller stand platform. The system and method reduce the time, effort, and manpower required to perform the alignment.

  • Publication number: 20190390825
Abstract: A luminaire system is provided that has directional light projection optics combined with a light distribution modifier to produce a non-uniform angular light intensity distribution from a single or array of light sources. The luminaire system provides for light intensity distribution with directional asymmetry meeting the specifications and requirements of aviation obstruction lights. The light distribution modifier component or subassembly redirects, scatters, refracts, diffracts and/or blocks part of the projection light in the distribution of the primary optics that would otherwise produce ground scatter. Unlike peripheral light shields at the marginal limits of the light distribution from the luminaire light system, the light distribution modifier is located near to the optical axis of the projection optics system.

  • Publication number: 20190391570
Abstract: A method and system to help control body-shop processing of vehicles, based on timing of interaction with a touch-screen display. In an example implementation, a body shop will be equipped with a computing system including a touch-screen display, with the computing system being configured to manage presentation on the display of graphical representations of job-cards for individual body-shop jobs, such as individual vehicles in for repair. With such an arrangement, body shop personnel could drag and drop job cards from one section to another to indicate transitions of jobs between body-shop processing steps. The computing system will then advantageously make use of data regarding the timing of those drag-and-drop operations as a basis to control body-shop processing, such as be predicting a processing duration of a job currently in process and taking action to modify processing of the job based on the predicted duration for instance.

  • Publication number: 20190388286
Abstract: A lift apparatus for telescopic passenger stairs enabling disabled passengers with impaired mobility to board a plane and to telescopic aeroplane passenger stairs with the said lift. The lift apparatus moves the lift regardless of the degree of extension of the telescopic staircase, with a moveable guide rail installed into a lower staircase, which can travel to the top of an upper staircase if needed. The guide rail in the lower part serves as a fixed guide rail for the lifting platform, onto which a passenger in a wheelchair is wheeled, wherein the platform moves along the guide rail. When the platform reaches the end of the guide rail, it is locked in place, after which the guide rail itself then moves along the track of the upper part of the staircase, wherein it is connected to the guide rail via wheels. The described movement is enabled by a system comprising an endless chain, guide rollers and wheels, a drive sprocket and a drive, and the said guide rail.
