  • Publication number: 20080140172
Abstract: A multi-wall expandable device (40) that optionally can have at least one material (46) between, Outside, or inside m the walls (43, 44) of the device. The sheet of material can be solid, perforated, or strands. Alternatively, individual strand or strands (47) of material may be woven through structural segments of the multi-wall expandable device. The sheet or sheets of material, strand, or strands can be used as a reservoir for any substance to be delivered, such as a drug, a supplement, a mineral or biological materials such as stem cells or a combination thereof. Additionally, the device is designed with the length of the device capable of being opened and closed to facilitate placement surrounding the treated structure to form a splint to offer support, protection, facilitate healing and deliver drugs or biological materials to the treated structure. This capability of being openable and closable can be accomplished with the use of latches, hinges, or memory metals such as nitinol.

  • Publication number: 20080076338
Abstract: A dressing blade for finishing and reconditioning new and used abrasive grinding and cutting tools has a slab-shaped shank with an extension protruding longitudinally from the shank. Superabrasive grains are disposed on the surface of the extension and held in place by a brazed metal composition. This composition is formed by brazing a powdered mixture of brazing metal components and active metal components. Specific extension configurations are provided which allow aligning the superabrasive grains in single layer arrangement for precise dressing and simple fabrication of the tool. The novel dressing tool exhibits excellent wear characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7346966
Abstract: A fitting for a harness, such as a trapeze harness for a sailboat is disclosed. The fitting comprises: a first part secured to or securable to a harness, a second part connectable to a tether, and a mechanism to releasably inter-connect the first and second parts. The mechanism comprises a plurality of locking members each having a rounded or tapered locking part, configured to be received within a respective locking aperture located on the second part. A locking element is provided which is moveable between a locking position and a release position and is configured to urge each locking member into a position in which its locking part is received within a respective locking aperture when the locking element is in the locking position. This enables the first part and the second part to be releasably locked together.

  • Patent number: 7122788
Abstract: Collecting samples to adjust a signal includes providing a shutter in an opened position to allow a detector of an infrared camera to detect infrared radiation and generate a signal corresponding to the infrared radiation. A first touchup iteration is initiated by moving the shutter to a closed position, and samples of a reference frame are collected according to a collection instruction. The shutter is then moved to the opened position. If there is a change in a state of the infrared camera, the collection instruction is adjusted in response to the change. A second touchup iteration is initiated by moving the shutter to the closed position, and samples are collected according to the adjusted collection instruction. A modification of the signal is determined in accordance with at least some of the samples.
