  • Publication number: 20170356517
Abstract: A cushioning and impact absorbing pad with a surface layer of thickness t, and an elastomeric sub-surface-structure of height h. The sub-surface structure comprises an array of elastomeric columns wherein each column has a frustoconical column wall surrounding a central void. The frustoconical column walls have a zone that is a more compressible, relatively collapsible zone in a region at an end of the column opposite the surface layer and a zone that is a relatively less compressible zone in a region at the end of the column abutting the surface layer. Column walls are tapered with draft angles in the range of greater than 6 degrees and less than 10 degrees.

  • Publication number: 20170349884
Abstract: A population of enteroendocrine cells (EEC) is obtained from a mammalian post-natal cell population, such as a population including post-natal stem cells, by treating the population with a plurality of small molecules that upregulate ChgA and promote differentiation of the cells to form the enteroendocrine cells. The upregulation of ChgA is such that the fraction of cells expressing CGA in the obtained cell population, as measured by a ChgA Immunostaining Assay, is at least about 1.5%. Small molecules that can be used to differentiate the post-natal cells into the enteroendocrine cells can include at least one of a Wnt activator, a Notch inhibitor, a Wnt inhibitor, a MEK/ERK inhibitor, a growth factor, a HDAC inhibitor, a Histone Methylation Inhibitor, a Tgf-? inhibitor, and a NeuroD1 activator. Also, the insulin expression of a population of mammalian cells is increased by treating the population with a plurality of small molecules that increase the insulin expression.

  • Publication number: 20170247995
Abstract: A method for evaluating and optimizing complex fractures, in one non-limiting example far-field complex fractures, in subterranean shale reservoirs significantly simplifies how to generate far-field fractures and their treatment designs to increase or optimize complexity. The process gives information on how much complexity is generated for a given reservoir versus distance from the wellbore under known fracturing parameters, such as rate, volume and viscosity. The method allows the evaluation of the performance of diversion materials and processes by determining the amount of fracture volume generated off of primary fractures, including far-field secondary fracture volumes. The methodology utilizes fracture hit times, volumes, pressures and similar parameters from injecting fracturing fluid from a first primary lateral wellbore to create fractures and record fracture hit times, pressures and volumes from a diagnostic lateral wellbore in the same interval.

  • Patent number: 9594372
Abstract: Described herein is a control system that facilitates assistance mode(s). In particular, the control system may determine a particular assistance mode associated with an account. This particular assistance mode may specify (i) operations for an aerial vehicle to carry out in order to obtain sensor data providing environment information corresponding to a location associated with the account and (ii) feedback processes to provide feedback, via a feedback system associated with the account, that corresponds to respective environment information. The control system may transmit to the aerial vehicle an indication of the particular operations corresponding to the particular assistance mode and may then receive environment information for the location associated with the account. • Publication number: 20160326859
Abstract: Improving the knowledge about how hydraulic fracture networks are generated in subsurface shale volumes in unconventional wellbores may be accomplished with various configurations of at least one diagnostic lateral wellbore using at least one diagnostic device disposed in the diagnostic lateral wellbore. By extending diagnostic lateral wellbores from adjacent lateral wellbores and/or separately drilling diagnostic lateral wellbores, and analyzing signals received by diagnostic devices placed in the diagnostic lateral wellbores, knowledge about fracture networks, the parameters that control fracture geometry and reservoir production and how reservoirs react to refracturing techniques may be greatly improved. Additionally, such diagnostic lateral wellbores can provide quicker location of sweet-spot horizons in reservoirs.

  • Publication number: 20160230526
Abstract: Improving the flow of hydrocarbons from shale lateral wellbores in unconventional wellbores may be accomplished with various configurations of assisting lateral wellbores and/or kick-off wellbores from primary lateral wellbores and/or secondary or assisting lateral wellbores. By extending fracture networks from adjacent lateral wellbores and/or adjacent kick-off wellbores so that the fracture networks from different wellbores are in fluid communication with one another, the flow of various fluids between the adjacent wellbores provides another dimension of control over the wellbores and fracture networks used to recover hydrocarbons from the shale intervals of interest.

  • Patent number: 9405921
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a computer-implemented method for role discovery in access control systems. User accounts are selected according to a predetermined algorithm. For each selected user account, a new role is created covering a set of permissions including all permissions which the user account needs but is not yet covered by another role that the user account has. The new role is given to the user account so that all permissions needed by the user account are covered. Any additional user accounts which still need the set of permissions covered by the new role are also found, and the new role is given to these additional user accounts, if any. Other features, aspects and embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160194604
Abstract: Described are cell culture solutions and systems for epithelial stem cell and organoid cultures, formation of epithelial constructs and uses of the same in transplantation. A single layer of epithelial cells that actively self-renews and is organized into crypts and villi clothes the intestine. It has been recently shown that the renewal of intestinal epithelium is driven by Lgr5+ intestinal stem cells (ISC) that reside at the base of these crypts (Barker et al., 2007). Lgr5+ stem cells can be isolated and cultured in vitro to form organoids containing crypt-vcllus structures that recapitulates the native intestinal epithelium (Sato et al., 2009).
