  • Publication number: 20080122363
Abstract: A microwave generator (10) having a hollow central electrode (12) with a front face including hollow emmission element (18), and having an outer electrode (14), which coaxially surrounds the central electrode (12) along an axially extending resonator section (16). The two electrodes (12, 14) define a spark gap (36) and are connected to a high-voltage source (38). An ultracompact microwave generator (10) is implemented by the high-voltage source (38) being arranged in the hollow central electrode (12) of the microwave generator (10) rather than on the outside thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060291271
Abstract: Systems in accordance with the present invention can include a tip contactable with a media, the media including a servo pattern, an inhibiting matrix having a plurality of cells disposed within the inhibiting matrix, wherein the servo pattern is defined at least partially by the plurality of cells. A data portion amongst which the servo pattern is disposed can further be defined within the inhibiting matrix. Alternatively, the data portion can include a continuous media. A tip including a conductive contact surface can be positioned in contact or near-contact with the plurality of cells, and a voltage potential can be applied across the media from the tip. A resistance of the at least one cell is then detectable. In an embodiment, the resistance of the at least one cell can be lower than a data indicium within the continuous media or within a patterned media, thereby identifying the cell as a servo mark.

  • Publication number: 20050243592
Abstract: Methods in accordance with the present invention can be applied, in an embodiment, to a media comprising a phase change material to alter a resolved portion of the phase change material to have a resistance different from a resistance of the bulk material. A tip having a substantially larger radius of curvature than the resolved portion can be employed by applying such methods. A substantially anisotropic columnar material can focus a current applied between the tip and the media so that the portion is narrower in width than the radius of curvature. Such highly resolved portions form bits in the media. Other objects, aspects and advantages of the invention can be obtained from reviewing the figures, specification and claims. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.

  • Patent number: 5014370
Abstract: A bulkhead is illustrated with sockets through the top deck and an intermediate platform to provide a box-frame structural strength to the bulkhead and to receive pool attachments for swimming activities, such as diving platforms or water polo goals. Another invention is the provision of tongue members for joining separate sections of a bulkhead which is assembled together at the swimming pool site. These tongue members can be longitudinal tongue members protruding from one or the other of the sections or they can be transverse tongue members which are on each section and are secured together. There is also an invention of access ports through both the top deck and the intermediate platform of a hollow swimming pool bulkhead for providing access to the interior of the bulkhead.
