Abstract: A fuel-fired furnace incorporates specially designed fuel/air mixing and combustion structures. The fuel/air mixing structure is of a mixing sound-attenuating design and comprises a venturi having a perforated sidewall portion and being surrounded by a noise-damping housing chamber communicating with the interior of the venturi via its sidewall perforations. During use of the mixing structure, air is flowed through the venturi in a swirling pattern while fuel is transversely injected internally against the swirling air. The combustion structure comprises a burner box housing into which the fuel/air mixture is flowed, combusted, and then discharged as hot combustion gas into and through the heat exchanger tubes. The fuel/air mixture entering the burner box housing initially passes through a non-uniformly perforated diffuser plate functioning to substantially alter in a predetermined manner the relative combustion gas flow rates through the heat exchanger tubes.

Abstract: A low emission submersible engine is part of a multipurpose aquatic device, such as an aquatic craft or an electrical generator. A propulsion system having a propeller is coupled to the submersible engine to produce a swimmer propulsion machine and a generator is attached to the engine to produce an electrical generator. The submersible engine receives air from a snorkel that extends up above a water line The aquatic device has a fuel reservoir which may receive liquid fuel or may receive a fuel cylinder. Floatation chambers keep the aquatic device afloat with the engine submerged. The exhaust assembly and exhaust ports from the engine may also be submerged and the exhaust ports may provide additional thrust. A propulsion system housing integrates the drive shaft and propeller, clutch coupler, exhaust conduits and water flow conduits and is detachably attachable to the engine.

The novel cycloalkyl-linked diheterocycle derivatives that are useful in the treatment of abnormal cell growth, such as cancer, in mammals. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds and to methods of using the compounds and compositions in the treatment of abnormal cell growth in mammals.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for use in the settlement process for providing settlement terms between opposing parties. In at least one embodiment, the system receives dispute amounts and best offer amounts from each party. In order to proceed with the settlement process, the difference between the dispute amounts from each party is compared to and must be less than a maximum allowable dispute amount difference. Further, in at least one embodiment, the system determines a suggested settlement amount, in part, using data from each party's confidential best offer. The present system and method provide a safe and non-threatening approach to the settlement process, which promotes compromise and settlement. Moreover, the present system and method provide a simplified procedure for collecting the debt once settlement occurs.

Abstract: A video display hub is mounted in a common household area such as a kitchen or family room. During times that have been designated as being available for communications, devices in first and second households exchange and display blurred video, allowing users in each household to see vague shapes and movements of the other household. Upon noticing activity, a user in the first household may initiate a video conversation, causing the video from the first household to be unblurred and causing unobscured voice to be transmitted to the second household. A user in the second household may respond by allowing the video conversation to be fully enabled, allowing the video from the second household to be unblurred and unobscured voice to be transmitted back to the first household.

Abstract: A ventilation closure system includes a damper, a shape memory alloy actuator, and a heating device. The shape memory alloy actuator is coupled to the damper. The shape memory alloy actuator has a first state in which the damper is positioned to permit airflow in the duct and has a second state in which the damper is positioned to obstruct the airflow in the duct. The shape memory alloy actuator is configured to change from the first state to the second state responsive to the shape memory alloy actuator attaining a first temperature responsive to heat released by an exothermic reaction in a compartment associated with the duct. The heating device is configured to heat the shape memory alloy actuator to maintain the damper in a position that obstructs the airflow in the duct.

Abstract: A biosensor includes an optical sensor circuit that emits light directed at skin tissue of a patient at a plurality of wavelengths. A first and second spectral response of light reflected from the tissue is obtained around a first wavelength in a UV range and a second wavelength in an IR range. A measurement of a substance in blood flow is then determined from the spectral responses. A risk of a health condition is obtained using the measurement. The health condition may include one or more of hyperglycemia, diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Abstract: A device includes an optical circuit that obtains a first signal at a first wavelength using light reflected from skin tissue of a patient, wherein the first wavelength has a high absorption coefficient for nitric oxide (NO) in blood flow and a second PPG signal at a second wavelength using light reflected from skin tissue of the patient, wherein the second wavelength has a low absorption coefficient for NO in blood flow. A measurement of a level of NO in blood flow is determined using the first PPG signal and the second PPG signal. A health condition is determined using the measurement of the level of NO, such as hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia.

The first and third heat exchangers may be in parallel for controlling the movement of coolant there between to control temperature.
