  • Publication number: 20240197975
Abstract: An extracorporeal blood treatment device and a method are provided for removing a secondary membrane formed on a semipermeable membrane of a dialyzer during an extracorporeal blood treatment. The extracorporeal blood treatment device operates in a first operating mode in which a dialysate outlet valve is open such that dialysate flows through a dialyzer feed line, through a dialysate chamber, and into and through a dialyzer discharge line. The extracorporeal blood treatment device operates in a second operating mode to remove the secondary membrane from the semipermeable membrane. During the second operating mode, the dialysate outlet valve is closed for a duration of time such that dialysate is prevented from flowing through the dialyzer discharge line. A backflush procedure results wherein a volume of dialysate passes from the dialysate chamber through the semipermeable membrane and into the blood chamber.

  • Publication number: 20240198002
Abstract: Processes and devices provide parenteral delivery of therapeutic fluids, in particular high-viscosity therapeutic fluids (e.g., protein therapeutics), by a chemical reaction that generates a gas. A device may include a first actuation chamber containing a first reagent, a second reaction chamber containing a second reagent, and a third therapeutic fluid chamber containing the therapeutic fluid. In a loaded configuration, a plunger separates the first chamber from the second chamber. In a delivery configuration, the plunger allows the first reagent from the first chamber to communicate and react with the second reagent from the second chamber. The generated gas acts upon a plunger to deliver the therapeutic fluid from the third chamber.

  • Publication number: 20240199658
Abstract: Synthesis techniques are described for forming organotin trialkoxide compounds via direct alkylation of tin alkoxides. A first method involves reacting an alkali metal tin trialkoxide with an organohalide compound (RXn, where X is a halide atom and n?1) to form a monoorgano tin trialkoxide represented by the formula R[Sn(OR?)3]n. The method can be used to form polytin trialkoxide compounds with a plurality of radiation sensitive C—Sn bonds. R and R? include organo groups and can optionally comprise hetero-atoms and/or unsaturated bonds. A second method involves the ultraviolet light-driven reaction of a di-tin tetraalkoxide with an organohalide compound (RX) to form a monoorgano trialkoxide represented by the formula RSn(OR?)3. A third method involves the visible or ultraviolet light-driven reaction of a di-tin tetraalkoxide or an alkali metal tin trialkoxide with an fluorinated organohalide compound (RFX) to form a fluorinated monoorgano trialkoxide represented by the formula RFSn(OR?)3.

  • Publication number: 20240198152
Abstract: A fire suppressant for cooling a battery pack includes a pressurized mixture of a dry chemical and carbon dioxide. The dry chemical is an inorganic particulate chemical. The dry chemical particles are small enough to be carried by a flow of depressurizing carbon dioxide. A mass of the dry chemical is between 5% and 50% of a mass of the carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide, when depressurized, vaporizes and cools the dry chemical and the battery pack. The dry chemical can adhere to the battery pack when the mixture is depressurized. An amount of the fire suppressant used to cool the battery pack is equal to or greater than an inerting volume of fire suppressant for the battery pack.

  • Publication number: 20240199840
Abstract: A method is described for the production of a polyhydric alcohol from a urethane containing polymer. The method first provides a reaction mixture comprising said polymer, a solvent, which comprises a polyol capable of reacting with said polymer to depolymerize said polymer; and a catalyst, which comprises catalyst particles. Said polymer is depolymerized in said reaction mixture by reacting with said polyol to produce said polyhydric alcohol. A further step allows said reaction mixture containing said polyhydric alcohol product to separate into an, upper, product phase containing said polyhydric alcohol and another, lower, phase mainly containing said polyol and said catalyst. The catalyst is recovered from said another phase, while said polyhydric alcohol product is recovered from said product phase.
