  • Patent number: 6400586
Abstract: An uninterrupted power supply (UPS) device with uninterrupted neutral from input to output utilizes the same converter for converting rectified AC power and battery power to positive and negative high voltage (HV) rails. A simple circuit is utilized for connecting the battery to the conversion components of the PFC circuit without adverse affect on the performance of the PFC circuit, and while holding the battery substantially connected to neutral. In a first embodiment, the circuit comprises a simple combination of four diodes and a pair of high pass capacitors arranged so that in both power line and battery supply modes the battery is balanced around neutral. In a second, preferred embodiment, one terminal of the battery is connected directly to neutral.

  • Patent number: 6314007
Abstract: A power converter includes first and second voltage busses and a neutral bus. A first switching circuit, e.g., a rectifier circuit, is operative to selectively couple an input node thereof to the first and second voltage busses. A balancer circuit is operative to selectively couple the neutral bus to the first and second voltage busses such that relative magnitudes of respective first and second voltages on the first and second voltage busses are controlled responsive to respective first and second rates at which the balancer circuit couples the first and second voltage busses to the neutral bus. A second switching circuit, e.g., an inverter circuit, is operative to selectively couple the first and second voltage busses to a load connected at an output node thereof.

  • Patent number: 6310769
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a component in a computer includes a computer chassis and a mounting bracket assembly attached to the computer chassis. The mounting bracket assembly includes a first structural layer, a second structural layer spaced apart from the first structural layer wherein a gap is defined therebetween, and a layer of damping material disposed in at least a portion of the gap. The mounting bracket assembly is useful in space-sensitive applications while still providing vibration and acoustical noise attenuation. Furthermore, the mounting bracket assembly provides a nominal degree of impact damping during installation of a system component, reducing the potential for impact related failures.

  • Patent number: 6003056
Abstract: A method and apparatus for calculating fast Fourier transforms FFTs. An FFT of a given size is formatted using tensor product principles for implementation in apparatus or by software such that the same reconfigurable hardware or software can calculate FFTs of any dimension for the selected FFT size. The FFT is factored into an input permutation and successive stages for computing tensor products of dimensionless Fourier transforms of a relatively small base size and twiddle factors, with load-stride permutations between computation stages. The basic building blocks of the circuitry can be reconfigurable for maximizing use-flexibility of the hardware or software. Examples of digital circuit apparatus configured to compute dimensionless formatted FFTs are presented.
