  • Publication number: 20170101800
Abstract: A weight system for supporting a free-standing object comprising first and second upper panels, a least one side panel, a lower panel, and a closure system. The panels are joined to define an upper wall and at least side wall, with the first and second upper panels defining a fill opening in the upper wall and a container defining an interior chamber. The closure system is arranged to allow the container to be configured in a closed configuration in which access to the interior chamber through the fill opening is substantially prevented and an open configuration in which access to the interior chamber through the fill opening is allowed.

  • Publication number: 20170032161
Abstract: A system and method to detect an event associated with a first object relative to a second object and a support is provided. The system can include an antenna at a support to receive the first object, a tag reader in communication with the antenna and a tag located on the second object. In response to detecting a change in impedance of the antenna associated with the presence of the first object, the tag reader communicates a presence signal. In response to detecting the tag within a threshold proximity of the tag reader, the tag reader generates a tag signal. A remoter server is operable to detect an association of the first and second objects based on a comparison a time associated with each of the tag signal and the presence signal, and in response then creates an output indicative of a detected event based on the association for illustration.

  • Patent number: 9465052
Abstract: A system is provided. The system includes a fiber optic current sensor, and a fiber optic current transducer optically coupled to the fiber optic current sensor and configured to receive polarized light from the fiber optic current sensor, generate an electrical signal from the polarized light, and isolate a direct current (DC) component of the electrical signal. The system further includes a monitoring circuit communicatively coupled to the fiber optic current transducer and configured to receive the DC component from the fiber optic current transducer, and generate an output signal based on the DC component, wherein the output signal is indicative of an operational state of the fiber optic current sensor and the fiber optic current transducer.

  • Publication number: 20160291062
Abstract: There is provided a system for use with a fiber-optic current transducer. The system includes a processing unit configured to transduce a first light signal into a first electrical signal. The processing unit is further configured to transduce a second light signal into a second electrical signal. The processing unit is configured to remove offsets from the first electrical signal and the second electrical signal by forcing the first electrical signal and the second electrical signal to be on the same per unit basis. Furthermore, the processing unit is configured to combine the first electrical signal and the second electrical signal to produce a composite signal, the composite signal being free of the offsets. And the processing unit is further configured to linearize the composite signal to produce an output current indicative of a current flowing in a conductor disposed proximate the FOCT.

  • Patent number: 9450377
Abstract: A laser diode assembly contains a plurality of laser diode chips packaged closely in a row. Each laser diode chip is bonded on both P-side and N-side to first and second sub-mounts. The sub-mounts are then attached to a cooling carrier, with both bonding surfaces perpendicular to the top surface of the carrier. The direction of laser radiation is parallel to the carrier top surface, and the distance between the top of the active area of the laser diode chip and the carrier is preferably in a range of half a pitch between individual laser sources packaged in a row or preferably in a range of 0.2 mm to 1 mm to allow efficient cooling for high power operation. The sub-mounts may be electrically conductive, or they may be of insulating material at least partially covered with a conducting layer. A laser diode chip is bonded uniquely to a set of sub-mounts or may share a sub-mount with another laser diode chip.

  • Patent number: 8607091
Abstract: In a digital video system, high availability distribution is provided using spare modules such as an integrated receiver decoder, multimedia transcoder and streaming module in support of the primary modules. The primary modules multicast status messages which are monitored by the spare modules. When failure of a primary module is detected, the spare module takes over the role of the failed module, for example by joining the same multicast groups as the failed module and taking over processing of the streams of the failed module. Multiple redundancy schemes are described.

  • Publication number: 20130133025
Abstract: To address security that can arise in information systems, the present invention uses novel methods and/or systems to enhance security in information systems, using a new way to deploy selected security policies. Instead of trying to modify a whole binary file all at once to add in code to implement additional security policies, the current invention modifies the code in memory in a piecemeal, as-needed fashion.

  • Patent number: 8384319
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an inertia of a synchronous condenser are described. An example system may include a motor, bidirectional power source, and at least one control device. The motor may be configured to alter a rotation of a condenser shaft to obtain a desired inertia of a synchronous condenser during a power disturbance event. The bidirectional power source may be coupled to the motor. The at least one control device may be configured to identify the power disturbance event, determine an amount of power to supply to or receive from the motor to obtain the desired inertia, and control the supply of power from the power source to the motor or from the motor to the power source based upon the determined amount of power.

  • Patent number: 8209338
Abstract: A method of social networking is disclosed in which users may indicate areas of interest to them and/or search for other users with the same or similar interests. Users may specify one or more areas of interest to them and enter those interests in a database, by means of a list of “tags” or keywords, called a taglist. The values of the tags may be weighted. A user wishing to find other users with similar interests may input a search taglist which is compared with the other taglists stored in the database, and a list of the users with the closest matching taglists is returned. The method may also be used to characterize documents, projects, media files or other data objects, so that such items may be searched in similar fashion.
