  • Patent number: 7123008
Abstract: A patient is examined by magnetic resonance imaging in different positions relative to gravity by moving the patient relative to the magnet, and the acquired data is compared to show differences in anatomy due to differences in patient position. Individual data elements or groups of plural data elements representing particular locations in one set of image data can be compared with data elements associated with the same locations in another set of image data, to yield a set of comparison image data elements. The comparison data set can be used to detect difference caused by differences in position of the patient.

  • Patent number: 7116106
Abstract: An MRI pulse sequence control system includes a pulse sequence controller, a controller, and a performance monitor module. The pulse sequence controller generates pulse sequence control data. The controller controls scanner devices according to the control data. The performance monitor module monitors performance of the controller during an MRI scanning procedure and provides controller performance information to the pulse sequence controller. The pulse sequence controller modifies the control data in response to the controller performance information. The controller responds to the control data during the MRI scanning procedure. A process for detecting errors in an MRI scan process includes monitoring performance of the controller during the MRI scanning procedure. Controller performance information is provided to the scanning pulse sequence controller. Control data generated by the scanning pulse sequence controller is modified in response to the controller performance information.

  • Publication number: 20050244111
Abstract: The invention relates to a compact transmitter optical sub-assembly (OSA), which can be used in small form factor optical transceivers. To limit back reflections from entering the laser cavity, the laser is disposed on a silicon optical bench (SiOB) at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the OSA. A portion of the light from the laser cavity passes through the back end of the laser cavity for measuring by a monitor photodiode. A rear beam steering lens redirects the portion of light into a v-groove in the SiOB and off of a reflective surface formed in the end thereof to the monitor photodiode, which is positioned face down over the v-groove.

  • Publication number: 20050216339
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of measuring customer response and methods of optimizing advertising in response to the customer response data. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a method of acquiring data about the advertising preferences of particular groups of customers. For example, this data may include analyzing the shopping response of all married female shoppers over 40 years of age after a particular advertisement is played; this shopping response could then be compared with the shopping response of a similar group after a different advertisement is played. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to optimizing advertising variable settings with respect to acquired advertising data in an effort to identify optimized advertising variable settings for identifiable groups of customers. Yet another embodiment of the present invention relates to a method of generating an advertisement with optimized advertisement variable settings for an advertising target group.

  • Publication number: 20050098264
Abstract: A MACs mitigation system includes a MACs film removal sub-system (14) and a wafer surface sustaining sub-system (16) for sustaining or maintaining the cleaned surface (18A) of a wafer (18) in a substantially MACs-free condition for some predetermined period of time, such as the typical amount of time required after MACs film removal to perform a desired measurement on the wafer using a metrology tool (12). The MACs film removal sub-system can comprise a source (14A) of microwave energy that beneficially both heats and dissociates the chemical constituents of the MACs film. The wafer surface sustaining sub-system can be co-located with a measurement stage portion of the metrology tool, and preferably includes an atmosphere provided by a source (20) of clean gas.

  • Patent number: 6829934
Abstract: A method facilitates simultaneously balancing mechanically coupled, synchronously rotating rotors. The rotors have different axes of rotation relative to one another and together define a rotor group to be balanced. Each rotor has at least one of a bearing plane and an other measuring plane associated therewith, the other measuring plane significantly describing vibrations of the each rotor. The rotors within the rotor group together have a number of different angular velocities associated therewith. At least one rotor of the rotor group is equipped with at least one vibration pickup in at least one of each bearing plane and the other measuring plane thereof. As many impulse and phase transmitters are installed in the rotor group as are provided the number of different angular velocities associated with the rotors within the rotor group.
