  • Publication number: 20170083202
Abstract: A device provides user interfaces for displaying messages in a messaging application. The device receives a plurality of messages from a first participant within a time interval and determines whether the plurality of messages meets message grouping criteria. In accordance with a determination that the plurality of messages does not meet the message grouping criteria, the device displays a plurality of separate bounded message areas representing the plurality of messages. In accordance with a determination that the plurality of messages meets the message grouping criteria, the device displays a single group bounded message area representing the plurality of messages.

  • Publication number: 20170034676
Abstract: A system and method are described for establishing two-way communication between proxy devices that have a certain set of hardware and/or capabilities allowing the proxy devices to send and receive SMS/MMS messages using cellular networks on behalf of proxied devices that lack the hardware and/or capabilities. The proxy device can receive a message from a service provider. The message may be associated with information, and the proxy device can determine a recipient of the message based at least in part on the information. The proxy device can determine whether delivery of the message to the recipient is restricted and, if not, transmit the message the proxied device and/or the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20170006441
Abstract: A unified message delivery between multiple devices is disclosed. Sending messages through a local communications link, such as but not limited to at least one of a Bluetooth connection and a peer-to-peer WiFi connection, can lead to faster transmission times and reduced server load. When the local communications link is unavailable or not suitable, the messages can be sent through a network and a push server. In some examples, messages can be sent through both the local communications link and through the network and the push server. Duplicates of a received message can be avoided by utilizing indicators. In some examples, one or more devices can include queue(s) to ensure ordered delivery of a plurality of messages when a local communications link and network connection become unavailable.

  • Publication number: 20160368844
Abstract: In a process for producing a mixture of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol, a feed comprising cyclohexanone is contacted with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst under hydrogenation conditions effective to convert part of the cyclohexanone in the feed into cyclohexanol and thereby produce a hydrogenation product containing cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol. A mixture of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol is then obtained from the hydrogenation product.

  • Patent number: 9505987
Abstract: Heavy oils containing metalloporphyrins principally of nickel and vanadium are demetallized using an oxidizing agent such as aqueous hydrogen peroxide and catalytic amounts of phosphoric acid, preferably with tungstic acid in combination with a phase transfer agent. Up to 99% of the Ni and V are deposited in the aqueous phase and are removed from the oil. The homogenous, water soluble reactants and catalyst have the advantage of being separated more easily from the Ni and V dissolved in the aqueous phase than the same metals deposited on solid phase heterogeneous catalysts.

  • Patent number: 9473912
Abstract: A system and method are described for establishing two-way communication between devices that have a certain set of hardware and/or capabilities allowing the devices to send and receive SMS/MMS messages using cellular networks on behalf of devices that lack the hardware and/or capabilities. A user's device lacking SMS/MMS capabilities queries an identity management service for device capabilities of other devices associated with the same user. The user's device lacking SMS/MMS capabilities can receive from the identity management service a device profile of each device associated with the user. The device profile can include one or more fields, flags, or indicators that specify or are otherwise indicative of hardware and/or software capabilities of a device. The user's device lacking SMS/MMS capabilities can select a device having SMS/MMS capabilities to act as a proxy based on a device's corresponding device profile that indicates that the device has SMS/MMS capabilities.

  • Patent number: 9319467
Abstract: In the described embodiments, a connection data exchange (“CDX”) service serves as an exchange point for connection data for establishing peer-to-peer (“P2P”) connections between devices. During operation, the CDX service can receive a connection data structure (a “ticket”) that was created by a matchmaker or an invitation service in response to requests from devices attempting to establish P2P connections. Each ticket can identify a corresponding device and can include encrypted NAT hole-punch data associated with the corresponding device. The CDX service can authenticate each ticket and decrypt the NAT hole punch data from the ticket using a corresponding key. The CDX service can then use corresponding NAT hole punch data to send connection data to each of the devices that reside behind NAT devices.

  • Patent number: 9264464
Abstract: Some embodiments use several different types of networks to relay several different types of media content among several different computing devices. The media content of some embodiments is data that a computing device can process in order to provide a presentation of the media content to a user of the device. Examples of types of such media content include audio data, video data, text data, picture data, game data, and/or other media data. In some embodiments, two different networks relay media content of two different types among multiple computing devices. Specifically, in some embodiments, a first network routes among the computing devices one type of media data content (e.g., game data), while a second network routes among the computing devices another type of media data content (e.g., audio and/or video data of game participants). The two networks differ in some embodiments based on their topology.

  • Patent number: 9264659
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for managing a video conference between a first device and a second device. The method identifies a first ceiling bit rate for transmitting video conference data to the second device through the communication channel. The method identifies a current bit rate that is less than the first ceiling bit rate. The method receives networking data regarding the communication channel from the second device. The method determines, from the received network data, that the communication channel will sustain an increase in the current bit rate. The method increments the current bit rate. The method iteratively performs the receiving, determining, and incrementing operations until a determination is made that the communication channel will not sustain the increase in the current bit rate.
