  • Publication number: 20190362374
Abstract: The system and method described herein provide a computationally efficient clearance markdown planning system that may quickly automate the calculations of many possible markdown plans to determine the impact of various pricing options on total sales volume and revenue. While considering business constraints and other parameters, the markdown planning system may determine an optimized markdown plan for a particular product, season, and locale. In some aspects, the markdown planning system may use scaling and a variation of dynamic programming (DP) to quickly calculate and compare different potential markdown plans.

  • Publication number: 20190361961
Abstract: Representative embodiments disclose mechanisms to validate statements made as part of a document creation or editing process. As the user edits or creates a document using a document creation/editing application, statements made in the document can be submitted to a validation service in a proactive or reactive manner. The statement validation service receives the statement, resolves any coreferences using a coreference resolution process. Once coreferences in the statement have been resolved and replaced, entities are resolved using an entity resolution process. Predicates are then resolved using a predicate resolution process. Entity-predicate pairs are then used to traverse a knowledge graph to extract information relevant to the statement. Suggested corrections are created from the extracted information and presented to the user via the document creation/editing application.

  • Publication number: 20190362277
Abstract: An approach is provided in which an information handling system trains on a set of historical data that includes a set of first infractions caused by a set of first businesses and a set of fines imposed on the set of first businesses based on the set of first infractions. The trained information handling system then performs a risk assessment of a second business that includes predicting a set of possible infractions of the second business based on a set of characteristics of the second business. Then, the information handling system predicts a set of possible fines corresponding to the set of possible infractions based on the historical data. In turn, the information handling system generates a risk report that includes the set of possible infractions and the corresponding set of possible fines.

  • Patent number: 10481997
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for a distributed code tracing system that provides code tracing as a service in a multi-tenant computing environment. In one embodiment, a code trace is received that is associated with a request submitted to a particular application hosted in a computing environment, where multiple applications are hosted in the computing environment. The code trace documents calls to multiple component services of the particular application in order to respond to the request. The code trace is compressed using time-based compression. The compressed code trace is then stored in a data store that is indexed by a unique identifier of the request.

  • Publication number: 20190346356
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring air particulate matter are provided herein that capture particles from the air for analysis. Particles are captured using electrostatic and/or mechanical means to deflect particles toward a substrate. Electrostatic precipitation causes charged carriers to deflect towards a charged substrate. Filtration-based means employ filters and/or fibers to capture particles from air flowing therethrough. A sensor such as a camera is used to read the captured particles. An illumination source directs light towards the substrate, causing the particles to scatter light, which the sensor can detect and derive information or imaging therefrom, which can also be used for further particle or pollution analyses. The substrate can be replenished using electrostatic techniques such as reverse electrostatic force, or mechanical means such as cleaning using a brush or replacing a tape substrate.

  • Publication number: 20190346169
Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling devices within a building management system (BMS). The system includes a user device configured to receive and convert a vocal input to voice data, and a BMS processor in communication with the user device and an operating device within the BMS. The BMS processor converts voice data to intent and entity parameters, and determines if the intent parameter is a visual intent or an audio intent. If the intent parameter is a visual intent, the BMS processor determines a category corresponding to the entity parameter, and outputs a web page corresponding to the category. Additionally, if the intent parameter is an audio intent, the BMS processor determines a category corresponding to the entity parameter, and retrieves and outputs operating device data corresponding to the category. Further, the user device outputs audio data corresponding to the operating device data and displays the web page.
