  • Patent number: 9964256
Abstract: In a process for the catalytic conversion of organic oxygenates to hydrocarbons, a feed comprising at least one organic oxygenate is contacted with a zeolite catalyst under conditions effective to produce a hydrocarbon product comprising aromatics, olefins and paraffins. At least a fraction of the hydrocarbon product containing C4+ hydrocarbons, including at least part of the olefins, is then contacted with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst under conditions effective to saturate at least part of the olefins in the C4+-containing fraction and produce a hydrogenated effluent containing less than 1 wt % olefins. The hydrogenated effluent is useful as a diluent for heavy crude oils.

  • Patent number: 9965196
Abstract: Storage systems track free blocks using various data structures and maps. For instance, free block maps may contain data blocks with values that indicate whether a block is free or not. When an operation results in a block being freed, the relevant data block in the maps must be written during an I/O operation to update the value. Large numbers of updates my occur after an operation that frees a large numbers of blocks, which can lead to performance degradation. Accordingly, disclosed are systems and methods for deferring updating of free block data tracking structures using logs.

  • Patent number: 9965201
Abstract: An improved technique for managing data storage includes relocating allocated blocks within a range of a physical address space of a file system to free the allocated blocks. The range has a length equal to a length of one or more full stripes of a RAID group that stores content of the file system. In response to receiving data to be written to the file system, the file system arranges the data in the range of contiguous blocks and performs one or more full-stripe writes to write the data to the RAID group.

  • Patent number: 9967911
Abstract: A device-to-device (D2D) pairing assembly comprises: a first and a second device detecting and communicating (DDC) component communicatively coupled to each other and to a microprocessor that executes a device pairing parameter exchange (DPPE) utility, which configures the D2D pairing assembly to: detect a communicative coupling of a first user device to the first DDC component; receive from the first user device at least one first pairing parameter, which first pairing parameter enables another device to connect to and participate in a pairing session with the first user device; detect a communicative coupling of a second user device to the second DDC component; and communicate the at least one first pairing parameter to the second user device, via the second DDC component, to trigger the second user device to connect to and participate in a pairing session with the first user device via a direct device-to-device communication channel.

  • Patent number: 9965000
Abstract: Integrated protective mesh techniques are described herein. In one or more implementations, a computing device includes electronic components attached to circuitry for the computing device, such as a flexible printed circuit (FPC). The electronic components are sensitive devices such as audio components and other sensors that rely on exposure to environmental inputs for operation and that may be adversely impacted by external contaminants (water, dust, ferritic material, etc.). To provide for proper operation of the electronic components, a housing for the computing device includes a port for the electronic components that extends from outside of the housing to an interior of the housing to create a pathway through the housing. A protective mesh is assembled as an integrated component of the circuitry (e.g., FPC) and configured to align with the port to protect the electronic components from passage of contaminants through the pathway created by the port.

  • Patent number: 9963985
Abstract: A turbomachine includes a plurality of nozzles, and each nozzle has an airfoil. The turbomachine includes opposing walls defining a pathway into which a fluid flow is receivable to flow through the pathway. A throat distribution is measured at a narrowest region in the pathway between adjacent nozzles, at which adjacent nozzles extend across the pathway between the opposing walls to aerodynamically interact with the fluid flow. The airfoil defines the throat distribution, and the throat distribution reduces aerodynamic loss and improves aerodynamic loading on each airfoil.

  • Patent number: 9967067
Abstract: An example method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving feedback information from at least one controlled cell indicative of interference received at one or more user equipment devices served by the at least one cell. The at least one controlled cell is controlled by an operator associated with the at least one controlled cell. The method further includes selecting one or more user equipment devices that is determined to have received interference from at least one non-controlled cell that is greater than a predetermined threshold. The at least one non-controlled cell is not controlled by the operator associated with the at least one controlled cell. • Publication number: 20180120873
Abstract: Despite otherwise uncomfortable conditions in a surrounding environment, a customizable microenvironment can be created around a user to maintain a comfortable temperature and/or humidity level using a comfort unit. For example, the environment may be an office building where conditions are out of the comfortable range to save on energy or for other reasons, a factory/shop environment that is poorly conditioned, or an outdoor location with little to no conditioning. A sensing unit can monitor biometric and environmental data and can determine a comfort level of the user. The comfort unit can then dynamically respond to the determined comfort level and adjust the microenvironment to improve the user's comfort level. The comfort unit can follow the user as the user moves within the macro-environment, or can otherwise move within the macro-environment to achieve certain functions, such as recharging or spatial shifting of thermal load within the overall macro-environment.

  • Publication number: 20180115592
Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods of dynamically modifying execution environment for varying data or executables. The data or executables may be a multimedia file and the execution environment may be multimedia playback settings. In aspects, content comprising various media items may be received by a client device. The media items may be evaluated to determine a set of characteristics for the media items. The set of characteristics may be compared to a user's preferred configuration settings or previously-played media items. Based on the comparison, the set of characteristics may be altered to be consistent with the preferred configuration settings (e.g., a modified set of characteristics may be estimated). The modified media items may then be played under known playback settings. In aspects, the media item under consideration may be played as is using an estimated playback configuration to enable a user-preferable playback experience.
