  • Publication number: 20120089272
Abstract: A vehicle monitoring device may include a set of sensors that may be mounted over indicators and analog gauges displayed on a vehicle's dashboard. The vehicle monitoring device may use these sensors to deduce the current state of the dashboard indicators and in turn generate an output signal that resembles the signal which would have been generated by the vehicle's electrical system to which the dashboard indicators are connected. Use of this vehicle monitoring device allows for easy connection of after-market vehicular safety devices such as, lane warning departure systems, to the vehicle monitoring device instead of the vehicle's electrical system.

  • Patent number: 8148750
Abstract: Semiconductor transistor devices and related fabrication methods are provided. An exemplary transistor device includes a layer of semiconductor material having a channel region defined therein and a gate structure overlying the channel region. Recesses are formed in the layer of semiconductor material adjacent to the channel region, such that the recesses extend asymmetrically toward the channel region. The transistor device also includes stress-inducing semiconductor material formed in the recesses. The asymmetric profile of the stress-inducing semiconductor material enhances carrier mobility in a manner that does not exacerbate the short channel effect.

  • Patent number: 8149811
Abstract: A wireless network including client stations and an access point. A first set of client stations transmit uplink user data during a simultaneous uplink transmission period without sensing channel prior to transmitting the uplink user data. A second set of client stations transmit the uplink user data by sensing channel prior to transmitting the uplink user data. The access point (i) services the client stations, (ii) instructs the second set of client stations to not transmit the uplink user data during the simultaneous uplink transmission period, and (iii) receives the uplink user data transmitted from two or more of the first set of client stations during the simultaneous uplink transmission period. The access point sequentially transmits respective acknowledgements to the two or more of the first set of client stations in a non-overlapping manner during the simultaneous uplink transmission period.

  • Patent number: 8145659
Abstract: One embodiment disclosed relates to a method of providing a real-time communications enhanced search service. When a search request from a client application, a search is obtained based on the search request. In addition, information as to relevant real-time communications channels, if any, is determined based on the search request. The results of the search and the information as to the relevant real-time communications channels may be combined and returned to the client application. Upon receiving a request from the client application to initiate opening of a relevant real-time communications channel, the relevant real-time communications channel may be established by communications with a second client application of a third party. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8140815
Abstract: This Sampling Object Cache System (“SOCS”) estimates the size of an in-memory heap-based object cache without the need to serialize every object within the cache. SOCS samples objects at a user-determined rate and then computes a “sample size average” for each type of class—whether a top class, type of top class or non top class. Using these sample size averages, a statistically accurate measure of the overall size of the cache is calculated by adding together the total size of the objects in the cache for each class type.
