  • Patent number: 12021847
Abstract: Methods and systems disclosed herein describe tokenizing data to generate a secure token that is limited in scope (e.g., directed to a specific recipient) and limited in time (e.g., valid for only a specified period of time). A detokenization process may be employed to recover encrypted data of the secure token without the need for any relational database lookup processes, thereby reducing cost while maintaining robust protection against unintended recipients that attempt to recover the encrypted data.

  • Publication number: 20240205004
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a system for responding to transient errors temporarily preventing a computing platform hosting data from communicating with an external key manager hosting keys used to encrypt the platform data. The encryption key can be controlled external to the system in an external key manager (EKM). If an error occurs in which the system and the EKM are temporarily not in communication, the external key controlled by the EKM is temporarily not available. The system begins an observation period, during which the observation period the system polls the EKM to check if the external key continues to be unavailable. The system unloads the encrypted data if, after the expiration of the observation period, the EKM is still not available. If the EKM and the external key becomes accessible again during the observation period, the system cancels the observation period and resumes normal operation.

  • Publication number: 20240202076
Abstract: A data management system (DMS) may use a staggered full snapshot rollout approach to obtain full snapshots of multiple computing objects. The DMS may identify that a quantity of the multiple objects scheduled for full backups by the DMS exceeds a threshold quantity. The DMS may initiate, at a first time, and based on the quantity of objects exceeding the threshold quantity, a first set of full snapshots corresponding to a first subset of objects included in the multiple objects. The DMS may initiate, at a second time subsequent to the first time, a second set of full snapshots corresponding to a second subset of objects included in the multiple objects. The second subset of objects may be different than the first subset of objects. The DMS may continue to obtain full snapshots of respective subsets of the multiple objects until all of the scheduled full snapshots are obtained.

  • Patent number: 12013831
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to index metadata that is usable for accessing multi-level data structures. A computer system may operate a database, including maintaining a set of records having a set of corresponding keys. The computer system may create multi-level data structures that facilitate key range lookups against those records. A given multi-level data structure may store key information indicative of a subset of the corresponding keys. The computer system may create separate index metadata that is usable for accessing the multi-level data structures. The index metadata may specify indications of key information that is stored in the multi-level data structures and locations of the multi-level data structures. The computer system may perform a key range lookup that includes using the index metadata to determine a particular set of the multi-level data structures whose key information corresponds to a key range of the key range lookup.

  • Patent number: 12013099
Abstract: A light-emitting diode (LED) can have a light-emitting surface that can emit emitted light. A filter, disposed on the light-emitting surface, can be at least partially transmissive in a first area and at least partially reflective in a second area. The first area can direct at least some of the emitted light through the filter to form shaped light that extends over an area corresponding to a shape of a static light pattern. The second area can reflect at least some of the emitted light into the LED through the light-emitting surface. A lens can bring the shaped light to a focus that has the shape of the static light pattern. To increase a contrast of the focus, an absorber, disposed on the second area of the filter, can absorb emitted light that is transmitted through the second area of the filter.
