  • Patent number: 6893482
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for recovering metal values from metal-bearing materials. During a reactive process, a seeding agent is introduced to provide a nucleation site for the crystallization and/or growth of solid species which otherwise tend to passivate the reactive process or otherwise encapsulate the metal value, thereby reducing the amount of desired metal values partially or completely encapsulated by such material. The seeding agent may be generated in a number of ways, including the recycling of residue or the introduction of foreign substances. Systems embodying aspects of the present invention may be beneficial for recovering a variety of metals such as copper, gold, silver, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, zinc, rhenium, uranium, rare earth metals, and platinum group metals from any metal-bearing material, such as ores and concentrates.

  • Patent number: 6860167
Abstract: A transmission with an essentially unloaded neutral position includes two curved-path carriers each having a curved path and a coupling element configured to engage with the curved paths of the curved-path carriers. The coupling element includes an engaging element which engages with the curved paths of the curved-path carriers. The engaging element is biased by a prestress against the curved path of each of the curved-path carriers in the essentially unloaded neutral position of the transmission.

  • Publication number: 20040226354
Abstract: A Method and device for the measurement of exhaust gas from internal combustion engines using a full-flow dilution method in which the exhaust volume flow is mixed with dilution air so that in specified test cycles, a defined total volume flow results, from which a partial sampling volume flow is extracted, on which a measurement of particulate emissions and/or gaseous components in the exhaust is conducted, and wherein a smoothed curve (II) of the exhaust flow (I) that is varied during the test cycles is determined, and the total volume flow (III) is adjusted in proportion to the variations in the measured smoothed curve of the exhaust flow.

  • Patent number: 6789813
Abstract: A torsion bar spring arrangement, particularly a stabilizer arrangement, for a double-track vehicle, has at least one prestressed spring element which limits the introduction of force into the torsion bar spring or the stabilizer to a value defined by the prestressing force of the spring element, in which case the spring element acts as an overload protection such that, when a force is introduced which significantly exceeds the prestressing force, the torsion bar spring arrangement would be damaged without this spring element. The torsion bar spring can have a divided construction and the spring element can be clamped in between the two parts of the torsion bar spring, in which case these two parts of the torsion bar spring can be mutually rotatable by way of an actuator.

  • Patent number: 6749338
Abstract: A cover band on a linear guide for closing holes that are provided for fastening screws of a guide rail. The cover band is inserted in a longitudinal groove of the guide rail and has an outer surface in the plane of a wiping surface of the guide rail. Two retaining strips on the cover band bear inside the longitudinal groove against those lateral groove walls and are locked together. The cover band is composed of an outer facing layer and an inner deformation layer. The inner layer contains the retaining strips. The outer and inner layers of the cover band are of two different materials, e.g., steel and aluminum, which are inseparably connected mechanically by cold roll bonding.

  • Patent number: 6743135
Abstract: A procedure to assemble a vehicular transmission from modular components. One determines the type of transmission to be assembled within a prefabricated housing sub-assembly, and then selects a central shaft sub-assembly from a family of modular shaft assemblies. A modular shaft sub-assembly appropriate to the transmission to be assembled is selected and then operatively connected to the housing sub-assembly to provide a housing assembly. An input sub-assembly is selected and operatively connected to the housing assembly. An output sub-assembly is selected from a family of modular output sub-assemblies, the selected output sub-assembly to be appropriate to the transmission to be assembled. The selected output subassembly is operatively connected to the housing assembly to provide a transmission of the type desired.
