  • Patent number: 8043510
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relate to treatment of fluids to remove mercury contaminants in the fluid. Contact of the fluid with active outer surfaces of particles magnetically separable from the fluid loads the particles with the mercury contaminants. Magnetic separation then removes from the fluid the particles loaded with the mercury contaminants such that a treated product remains.

  • Patent number: 7964093
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relate to treating fluid to at least reduce selenium content within the fluid, which may be an aqueous liquid and form a feed stream. The treating removes selenium that may be present in compounds, such as selenocyanate, from the feed stream based on adsorption from contact of the fluid with a sorbent. Flowing a gaseous hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide containing stream over a support, such as activated carbon, may provide the sorbent impregnated with sulfur and utilized in the treating of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 7963266
Abstract: A starter device for an internal combustion engine (10) has an actuating device and an entrainer (24) can be coupled to the crankshaft (13) of the engine (10). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device are rotatably journalled about a rotational axis (14). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device are connected to each other via a damping spring (23). The damping spring (23) is connected with a first end (26) to the actuating device and with a second end (27) to the entrainer (24). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device have respective supports (21, 42). The damping spring (23) is mounted on the outer periphery of the two supports (21, 42). In the direction of the rotational axis (14), a disc (22) is mounted between the two supports (21, 42) in order to avoid the situation that the damping spring (23) can force itself into a gap between the two supports (21, 42) which gap can arise during operation.

  • Patent number: 7951740
Abstract: A method for regenerating desulfurization sorbents that minimizes the in situ formation of one or more silicates. It has been discovered that regenerating sulfur-laden sorbent particles in a carbon oxide-rich environment unexpectedly reduces the in situ silicate formation rate, as compared to similar sorbents regenerated using conventional methods.

  • Publication number: 20110079472
Abstract: A brake actuating device has an actuator functionally connected between a piston and a brake pedal lever. The actuator is capable of varying the path length of a force-conducting connection between the brake pedal lever and the piston of the brake cylinder via a displaceable element. A spring element acts on the brake pedal lever. The spring force varies during the variation of the path length such that a sum of the spring force and a force acting on the brake pedal lever from the brake cylinder remains essentially unchanged. The spring element is fastened with one end to the displaceable element and with the other end to the brake pedal lever with the interposition of a tensioning mechanism, which is guided by a cam track provided on the brake pedal lever.
