  • Publication number: 20070039420
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system for recovering metal values from metal-bearing materials. During a reactive process, a seeding agent is introduced to provide a nucleation site for the crystallization and/or growth of solid species which otherwise tend to passivate the reactive process or otherwise encapsulate the metal value, thereby reducing the amount of desired metal values partially or completely encapsulated by such material. The seeding agent may be generated in a number of ways, including the recycling of residue or the introduction of foreign substances. Systems embodying aspects of the present invention may be beneficial for recovering a variety of metals such as copper, gold, silver, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, zinc, rhenium, uranium, rare earth metals, and platinum group metals from any metal-bearing material, such as ores and concentrates.

  • Publication number: 20070031991
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for depositing compounds on a substrate by means of metalorganic chemical vapor deposition and a first mixture comprising at least one carrier gas and at least one organometallic compound as well as a second mixture comprising at least one carrier gas and at least one group V compound or group VI compound, both mixtures being separately fed into an MOCVD system. According to the invention, the first mixture comprising at least one carrier gas and at least one organometallic compound is directed into the system between the substrate and the second mixture comprising at least one carrier gas and at least one group V compound or group VI compound, which has the advantageous effect of creating no parasitic deposits on the walls of the MOCVD system. Hence, the deposition rates are increased compared with methods known in prior art.

  • Publication number: 20060225677
Abstract: A two-stroke engine has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating in the cylinder and delimiting a combustion chamber. The piston has at least one piston recess. A crankshaft is rotatably arranged in a crankcase connected to the cylinder. A connecting rod connects piston and crankshaft. Transfer channels connect the crankcase to the combustion chamber in pre-defined piston positions. The transfer channels each have a transfer port opening into the combustion chamber. A device for supplying fuel and an air channel supplying combustion air are provided. In predetermined piston positions, the air channel is connected by the piston recess to the transfer ports. The air channel opens into the cylinder bore opposite the exhaust for the exhaust gases. The air channel, the piston recess, and the transfer channels define an air passage that provides approximately uniform distribution of air from the air channel into the transfer channels.
