Patent number: 11932280Abstract: An autonomous vehicle (AV) system includes an AV control system that resolves unique situations encountered while operating as a ride hail provider. The AV control system includes an artificial intelligence (AI) agent programmed to receive a situation data set as an input from vehicle sensors or from another AI agent. The situation data set can include a generic representation of information describing and characterizing the circumstances and details of the current situation. The system may access a knowledge library having catalogued prior situation data sets describing situations encountered by the AV or other vehicles in a fleet. The AV control system may search the knowledge library for similar situations encountered by a fleet vehicle. Once a similar situation is identified, the AV control system may identify one or more remedies that were executed to handle the prior situation, and execute the remedy to address the current situation.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2020Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Hao Howard Yang, Tavan Eftekhar, Yiming Duan, Roy Hwang

Patent number: 11771837Abstract: Medication delivery devices are provided having a dose delivery sensing capability. A sensed element is attached to a dose setting member of the device. The sensed element includes surface features radially-spaced from one another. A rotational sensor is attached to an actuator of the device. The rotational sensor includes a movable element that is contactable against the surface features. The rotational sensor is configured to generate a signal in response to the movement of the movable element over the surface features during their rotation. A controller is operatively coupled to the rotational sensor, and in response to receiving the generated signal, the controller is configured to determine a number of the surface features passing the movable element of the rotational sensor during dose delivery. The number can be associated with an amount of dose delivered. Sensing can be provided in a module or integrated in device.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2022Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: Roy Howard Byerly, Daniel Joseph Nelsen, Russell Wayne Perkins, Robert Charles Uschold

Patent number: 11771828Abstract: A medication delivery device having a lock element. The device is connectable to an electrical plug of a conduit. The device includes an external housing with an opening that ports to a plug receiving hollow within an interior volume. An electrical circuit connected to at least one of a rechargeable battery and a memory controller includes a connection element within the plug receiving hollow. The lock element travels within the plug receiving hollow when a dose delivery assembly of the device operates for forcing medication from the device. The lock element is sized and positioned to have its travel halted by abutment with the plug, when the plug is within the plug receiving hollow and electrically interfacing with the connection element, to thereby halt the dose delivery assembly from further operating for forcing medication from the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2021Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: Roy Howard Byerly, Kimberly Ann Ringenberger

Patent number: 11471607Abstract: Medication delivery devices, sensing systems, and methods are disclosed for determining the relative axial and rotational movements of its members to determine the amount of a dose set and/or delivered by the medication delivery device. A sensing system comprises a barrel sensor system (100), a drive sleeve sensor system (130), and/or an axial sensor system (140). The barrel sensor system (100) is for detecting the absolute relative angular position of the barrel relative to the housing during dose setting. The drive sleeve sensor system (130) is for detecting the absolute relative angular position of the drive sleeve relative to the housing during dose delivery. The axial sensor system (140) is for detecting the relative axial positions of the dose dial relative to the housing during dose setting and delivery. A controller receives outputs from the sensor systems corresponding to the absolute relative positions to determine the actual amounts of dose set and delivered.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2017Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Eli Lilly and CompanyInventors: Nicola Antonio Alagia, Roy Howard Byerly, Rossano Claudio Massari, Russell Wayne Perkins
