    Abstract: A method and system, the method including determining a frequency quality measurement value for each of a plurality of frequencies a network coordinator can use in a frequency hopping sequence for communicating with a client, classifying each of the plurality of communication frequencies into one of a plurality of different categories based on a relative ranking of the determined frequency quality measurement value of each of the plurality of frequencies, generating, by the network coordinator, a frequency hopping sequence to be used for communication between the network coordinator and the client, the generated hopping sequence including only select frequencies from the plurality of frequencies in a predetermined number of future time slots that minimize a probability of a predetermined number of consecutive frequency hop failures in the predetermined number of future time slots, and notifying the client of the generated frequency hopping sequence to be used for communication.

    Abstract: A keyboard type input device used in conjunction with a wristwatch or a portable telephone has multiple key positions provided as character entry keys. Each key corresponds to one key in the selected row of the conventional QWERTY keyboard. A second set of control buttons provide for the selection of which row of a conventional QWERTY keyboard are represented by the character keys in addition to other functions such as case shift, and alpha-numerical control functions. A selected row is shown on a display, as visual feedback. Alternatively the keys are implemented as LCDs with pressure sensors and the characters of the selected row are displayed directly on the corresponding key positions. The keyboard finds particular use in portable devices as it demands less space than traditional keyboards.

    Abstract: A DC motor 12, has a stator housing 16 accommodating a permanent magnet stator and a rotor 15 rotatably mounted confronting the stator. The rotor 15 has a shaft 21, a rotor core 22 fitted to the shaft and having laminations forming salient poles or teeth 27. A commutator 23 is fitted to the shaft adjacent one end of the rotor core and windings 24 are wound about the teeth and terminated on segments of the commutator 23. The windings is formed by a number of coils with each coil being wound around a single tooth of the rotor and each tooth supporting a single coil. Brush gear comprising a plurality of brushes 26 in sliding contact with the commutator 23, transfers electrical power to the windings.

The foldable tang 16 has a proximal end 18 on or adjacent to the body portion 14, and a distal end 22 remote from the proximal end 18. A wire-accommodating portion 30 is provided on or adjacent to the foldable tang 16, so that, when the tang 16 is folded, the wire-accommodating portion provides a predetermined gap 56 for the winding lead wire 44.

    Abstract: An engine cooling system incorporates a cooling fan module having a motor and a fan driven by the motor. The motor has a motor housing and two end caps disposed at respective ends of the motor housing. Each of the end caps has at least one axial hole to allow air to flow through the motor to dissipate heat from inside the motor. The motor also has a dust screen disposed inside the motor and adjacent each of the axial holes for preventing external particles entering the motor through the axial hole. Each dust screen has a plurality of apertures to allow air to flow through the motor but prevents dust particles entering the motor.

    Abstract: The motor of an anti-lock braking system comprises a stator having six stator poles and a rotor with a rotor core having nine teeth. The rotor is rotatably mounted to the stator with the rotor core confronting the stator poles. Rotor windings are wound about the teeth and electrically connect to a commutator fixed to a rotor shaft. A bearing is fixed onto one end of the rotor shaft. Pump pistons radially attach to the bearing. The mechanical centreline of the bearing is offset from the rotational axis of the rotor shaft so that the pistons are driven by the bearing when the rotor turns. The windings comprise a plurality of concentrated coils so that the coils do not overlap with each other. The axial length of the motor is thus reduced.
