  • Publication number: 20180365148
Abstract: Four extensions to the conventional field specialization process are disclosed. The first extension is cross-application value flows, where a value transfers out of one application and subsequently into another application. The second extension is an inter-application analysis. Static and dynamic analysis is performed by a Spiff Toolset not just on the source code of a single application, but also across the data read and written by that application. The third extension is invariant cross-application termination, verifying the possibility of an invariant originating in an application and terminating in a specialization opportunity in a separate application. The fourth extension relates to run-time code placement algorithms to mitigate an increase in I-cache pressure and L2-cache pressure.

  • Publication number: 20180362834
Abstract: The disclosure generally refers to compositions and methods for treating subterranean formations that improve the recovery of hydrocarbons from the subterranean formations. The compositions include positively and negatively charged nanoparticles suspended in a carrier fluid that is not a drilling fluid and is free of cement and foaming agents. The populations of nanoparticles may be of different sizes, different materials, and comprise different ratios. The composition may also include: surface-active agents, such as surfactants, polymers; detergents; crystal modifiers; stabilizers, or hydronium. In some embodiments, the surface-active agents may bind to the surface of the positively or negatively charged nanoparticles. A subterranean formation may then be injected with the composition.

  • Publication number: 20180342193
Abstract: Electronic devices and methods for compensating for noise in a display that includes sensing a current in a sensing channel of the display. Compensating for the noise also includes sensing an observation current from noise in an observation channel of the display and scaling the observation current to generate a scaled observation current. The scaled observation current is subtracted from the sense current to generate a compensated output. The compensated output is used to drive compensation operations of the display based at least in part on the compensated output to reduce effects of the noise.

  • Patent number: 10134349
Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices with displays. A display may include an array of display pixels and control circuitry for operating the display. In some scenarios, interference signals from other components of the electronic device or additional external devices can couple to the control circuitry for the display and cause distortions in displayed data. Display frames may be displayed by an electronic device display with a varying phase. The varying phase display frames may each include a distortion pattern that also varies from frame to frame due to the varying phase. The varying distortion patterns may average out or visibly cancel when viewed by a user such that no visible artifact of the interference signal is seen by the user. The varying phase can be actively tuned to the interference signal if desired.

  • Patent number: 10117949
Abstract: A recombinant fusion protein comprising a human erythropoietin peptide portion linked to an immunoglobulin peptide portion is described. The fusion protein has a prolonged half-life in vivo in comparison to naturally occurring or recombinant native human erythropoietin. In one embodiment of the invention the protein has a half-life in vivo at least three fold higher than native human erythropoietin. The fusion protein also exhibits enhanced erythropoietic bioactivity in comparison to native human erythropoietin. In one embodiment, the fusion protein comprises the complete peptide sequence of a human erythropoietin (EPO) molecule and the peptide sequence of an Fc fragment of human immunoglobulin IgG1. The Fc fragment in the fusion protein includes the hinge region, CH2 and CH3 domains of human immunoglobulin IgG1. The EPO molecule may be linked directly to the Fc fragment to avoid extraneous peptide linkers and lessen the risk of an immunogenic response when administered in vivo.

  • Publication number: 20180314561
Abstract: A technique for multi-layer quality of service (QoS) management in a distributed computing environment includes receiving a workload to run in a distributed computing environment. A workload quality of service (QoS) class for the workload is identified, and the workload QoS class is translated to a storage level QoS class. The workload is scheduled to run on a compute node of the environment, and the storage level QoS class is communicated to a workload execution manager of the compute node. The storage level QoS class is communicated to one or more storage managers of the environment where the storage managers manage storage resources in the environment. The storage managers extend the storage level QoS class to the storage resources to support the workload QoS class.
