Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a social graph that includes a plurality of nodes and edges. A first node corresponds to a first user associated with an online social network and second nodes correspond to a concept or a second user. The method further comprises scoring a first set of nodes of the second nodes based on user-engagement factors. The method further comprises identifying common nodes that are connected by edges to nodes of the first set of nodes that have a score greater than a threshold score. The method further comprises generating structured queries and sending the structured queries to the user, the sent structured queries being a personalized query.

Abstract: Parsed attachments from email communications may be sorted. In some examples, an application, such as an email processing application, may display email summaries associated with emails within an email summary view of the email application interface. A selected email associated with a selected email summary may be displayed in an email view. The email processing application may identify one or more attachments within the emails. Attachment summaries associated with the one or more attachments may be displayed within an attachment summary view of the email application interface.

Abstract: A patch for a structure has a rework area with an inconsistency formed therein. The patch comprises a patch body having at least two regions including a fail-safe region and a safe-life region encompassing the fail-safe region. The safe-life region has a mode I interlaminar fracture toughness that is less than the mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of the fail-safe region.

Abstract: A method for analyzing a structure includes processing nondestructive inspection (NDI) data for a multi-layer structure to define areas of inconsistency at an internal layer or an interface between adjacent layers. The method includes mapping the areas of inconsistency to finite elements of a finite element model of a nominal of the structure. These finite elements are thereby identified as affected finite elements and include finite elements for the affected internal layer or interface. The method includes producing a reconstructed finite element model of the affected structure from the nominal finite element model, and a modified property or state value assigned to respective element datasets of the affected finite elements. The method includes performing a finite element method (FEM) failure analysis of the reconstructed finite element model under a load, which indicates an extent of residual integrity of the affected structure.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for electronic locks with a selectable power off function. The electronic lock includes an electronic controller disposed within a lock housing and operable to control a state of the lock between locked and unlocked positions. An electronic actuator electrically coupled to the controller is movable between first and second positions corresponding to a locked position and an unlocked position of the lock, respectively. The electronic lock further includes at least one electrical energy storage device and a selector switch coupled to the controller to define a desired state of the lock between one of an electrically locked (EL) and an electrically unlocked (EU) state in an electric power off condition.

Abstract: A rework system for a vehicle having an inconsistency on a component of the vehicle. A rework assessor is configured to examine a rework parameter array to ascertain whether a rework procedure is to be performed. The rework parameter array defines at least volumetric dimensions of the component, a type of the inconsistency, and location coordinates of the inconsistency with respect to the component or the vehicle. A rework interrogator is in communication with the rework assessor. The rework interrogator is configured to, when a rework is to be performed, identify a candidate for addressing the inconsistency. The candidate selected from the group that includes: a candidate part, a candidate rework procedure, and both the candidate part and the candidate rework procedure.

Abstract: A test stand, for testing several parameters of power tongs used to make and break drill and casing pipe segments, comprises a base having a vertical, rotating shaft bearing along its length one or more disk brakes for stopping rotation of the shaft induced by tongs. In a particular embodiment, a vertical mast on the base supports a rotatable gantry which can lift and move power tongs into place above the test stand. Sensors detect several parameters which determine tong performance. Measurements of torque, RPM, temperature, pressure and speed are contrasted to standards for power tongs of like size and capacity and feedback as to the tongs' ability to make and break drill and pipe joints is provided. In another embodiment, a derrick sits atop the base and supports a second, inverted test stand for testing integrated power tongs.

Abstract: End mills are disclosed which may be made monolithically of ceramic or other materials. The cutting portions of the end mills have lengths of cut that are no more than twice their cutting diameters and cores which are at least 0.7 times their cutting diameters. Their axial blades have cutting edges with negative radial rake and are separated by helical flutes. Their cutting ends have negative axial rake and are gashed ahead of center and have radial cutting edges with negative rake. Such end mills also have radiused corners and gashes transitioning from radial to axial at a flute. Methods of milling materials using such ceramic end mills are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods can provide for specifying and enforcing IPv4 and IPv6 CPE limits in a modem device. In some implementations, such systems and methods can inspect a packet originating from CPEs behind a modem to determine whether the packet is an IPv4 or IPv6 packet. Such systems and methods can compare the packet source MAC address to determine whether the address exists in the IPv4 and/or IPv6 CPE tables. The modem can then perform varying actions based on IPv4 or IPv6 CPE limit enforcement mechanisms, thereby alleviating the problem of a single CPE limit enforcement policy for all CPEs.

Each of the identified keyword phrases is news-related. The method includes calculating a news-score for each of the identified keyword phrases. The method includes generating one or more suggested queries. Each suggested query includes one or more n-grams identified form the text query and one or more identified keyword phrases having a news-score greater than a threshold news-score. The method includes sending one or more of the suggested queries to search for news-posts of the online social network.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a post of an online social network, extracting keywords from the content of the first post and the metadata associated with the first post, determining topics associated with each extracted keyword, calculating a topic-score based on a relevance of the topic to the post for each topic, generating a suggested keyword query corresponding to the post, the suggested keyword query comprising extracted keywords corresponding to each topic having a topic-score greater than a threshold topic-score, and sending the post and the suggested keyword query to a client device of a first user for display.

The method can include determining whether a control unit of the transport refrigeration system is off. Further the method can include instructing one or more parasitic electronic devices of the transport refrigeration mode to operate in a hibernation mode when the input voltage of the transport refrigeration system power source remains below a voltage threshold value for a time period and the control unit is off.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving from a client system of a first user an unstructured text query. The method includes parsing the text query to identify one or more n-grams. At least one of the n-grams is an ambiguous n-gram. The method includes searching a plurality of keyword generators to identify one or more keyword suggestions matching the ambiguous n-gram. The method further includes calculating a keyword score for each identified keyword suggestions and generating one or more suggested queries including one or more n-grams identified from the text query. The one or more identified keyword suggestions having a keyword score greater than a threshold keyword score. The method includes sending one or more of the suggested queries to the client system of the first user for display.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving unstructured text from a user of a social-networking system, determining whether the unstructured text includes a request for a recommendation, identifying one or more first entity names in the unstructured text, generating a structured query based upon the one or more first entity names, identifying, in the social graph, one or more second entity names corresponding to the structured query, and presenting the one or more second entity names and the unstructured text in a social context of the user. The unstructured text may include text of a post or message generated by the user on a social-networking system. Abstract: A structural repair includes a tell-tale optical witness that allows the health of the repair to be visually monitored. The optical witness includes a stress sensitive fluorescent dye that shows changes in local strain/stress patterns when the repair is subjected to electromagnetic energy of a particular wavelength. The dyes fluoresce more or less strongly as a function of the local stress/strain.
