    Abstract: An assembly creates annular voids in concrete around the distal end of cylindrical tubes. A cap has a flat top and a cylindrical, depending skirt. An annular, foam plug extends between the inside of the skirt and the outer diameter of the tube. The plug has an undeformed inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the tube to create an interference fit around the tube and keep concrete out when the cap is on the end of the tube. The plug has a radial thickness of 0.3 to 1 inch, and has an axial length of 1 to 3 inches, with a bottom of the plug located at a bottom of the skirt. The cap is glued to the end of the tube for pressure testing. After the tube is entrained in concrete, the cap and plug are removed to leave a void in the concrete surface.

    Abstract: An audio system for near and far field signal enhancement that uses a contact transducer. The audio system includes a microphone array, the contact transducer, and a controller. The microphone array detects sounds from a local area. The sounds from the local area include a voice of a user of the audio system. The contact transducer may be in contact with the head of the user. The contact transducer detects tissue based vibrations that are generated by the user and pass through tissue of the user prior to being detected by the contact transducer. The controller identifies the voice of the user in the detected sounds using the detected tissue based vibrations and a model, and updates a sound filter based on the identified voice of the user. The audio content is modified using the updated sound filter, and is presented by at least one audio system.

    Abstract: A thermochemical labyrinth reactor is disclosed. The reactor has a reoxidation zone and a reduction zone with electric heaters. A recuperation zone connects the reduction and reoxidation zones with first and second channels, the first channel adjoining the second channel, being separated by windows allowing an exchange of thermal radiation between channels while preventing gas exchange. The reactor also includes reactor plates composed of a reactive material, and a transit system running through the three zones, with the transit system configured to shuttle the plates between the reduction zone and the reoxidation zone, moving the plates along a circuit. The reactor also has a feedstock gas emitter to introduce a feedstock gas flowing opposite the movement of the plates. A gas extractor is configured to extract a product gas resulting from the feedstock gas being split by the oxidizing reactive material. All three zones are surrounded by an insulating housing.
