  • Publication number: 20180175800
Abstract: A Doherty amplifier is able to enhance efficiency in low-power and high-power RF communication states by enabling carrier and peaking amplifiers as required, and controlling bias modulation, depending on traffic loading levels in each of a set of consecutive communications timeslots. For example, if, in a low-power state, traffic loading levels do not exceed a relatively lower threshold in a communications timeslot, carrier amplifiers are selectively enabled as needed, peaking amplifiers are not enabled, and carrier amplifier bias levels are kept substantially constant. If, in an intermediate-power state, the lower threshold is exceeded but a relatively higher threshold is not exceeded, all carrier amplifiers are enabled, peaking amplifiers are selectively enabled, and bias levels are kept substantially constant. If, in a high-power state, the higher threshold is exceeded, all carrier and peaking amplifiers can be enabled, and the peaking amplifier bias tracks the RF envelope of the received RF signal.

  • Patent number: 9979355
Abstract: An embodiment of an amplifier system includes a modifiable signal adjustment device with an RF signal adjustment circuit coupled between first and second nodes. The RF signal adjustment circuit includes an adjustable phase shifter and an adjustable attenuator coupled in series with each other. The device also includes a memory and a controller circuit. The controller circuit retrieves a phase shift value and an attenuation value from the memory. The controller circuit then controls the adjustable phase shifter to apply a phase shift corresponding to the phase shift value to an input RF signal received at the first node, and controls the adjustable attenuator to apply an attenuation corresponding to the attenuation value to the input RF signal. Applying the phase shift and the attenuation results in an output RF signal at the second node.

  • Patent number: 9967749
Abstract: Secure NFC interactions with a server information handling system management controller, such as a baseboard management controller, are supported with an NFC application running on a mobile information handling system. A private key is applied by the mobile application to create an application hash that a baseboard management controller verifies to authorize access by the NFC application. The private key encrypts a user name and password so that the baseboard management controller decrypts the user credentials to look up access privileges in a security database. If user privileges include access to components, the baseboard management controller automatically actuates locks to provide access.

  • Patent number: 9957217
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for synthesizing an ester or a carboxylic acid from an organic alcohol. To form the ester one reacts, in the presence of oxygen gas, the alcohol with methanol or ethanol. This reaction occurs in the presence of a catalyst comprising palladium and a co-catalyst comprising bismuth, tellurium, lead, cerium, titanium, zinc and/or niobium (most preferably at least bismuth and tellurium). Alternatively that catalyst can be used to generate an acid from that alcohol, when water is also added to the reaction mix.

  • Patent number: 9754633
Abstract: Memory short detection systems and methods include a power supply system with first power rail. A memory system includes a memory device connector that is configured to couple to a memory device and includes a first pin that is coupled to the first power rail and a second pin located adjacent the first pin. A short detection circuit is coupled to the first pin. The short detection circuit is configured to provide a first voltage from the first power rail, compare the first voltage to a first short detection voltage, and determine whether a short exists across the first pin and the second pin based on the comparing of the first voltage to the first short detection voltage. If a short is determined to exist across the first pin and the second pin, power is prevented from being provided to the memory device connector.

  • Publication number: 20170242789
Abstract: A technique for garbage collection in a data storage system includes determining a dirty physical byte count for each of a plurality of candidate garbage collection units. The dirty physical byte count provides a total amount of dirty bytes. At least one of a dirty physical codeword container count and a dirty physical page count is determined for each of the candidate garbage collection units. The dirty physical codeword container count provides an amount of physical codeword containers that are completely dirty and the dirty physical page count provides an amount of physical pages that are completely dirty. A garbage collection unit, included in the candidate garbage collection units, is selected for garbage collection based on the dirty physical byte count and at least one of the dirty physical codeword container count and the dirty physical page count.
