  • Patent number: 9740609
Abstract: A technique for garbage collection in a data storage system includes determining a dirty physical byte count for each of a plurality of candidate garbage collection units. The dirty physical byte count provides a total amount of dirty bytes. At least one of a dirty physical codeword container count and a dirty physical page count is determined for each of the candidate garbage collection units. The dirty physical codeword container count provides an amount of physical codeword containers that are completely dirty and the dirty physical page count provides an amount of physical pages that are completely dirty. A garbage collection unit, included in the candidate garbage collection units, is selected for garbage collection based on the dirty physical byte count and at least one of the dirty physical codeword container count and the dirty physical page count.

  • Publication number: 20170137362
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for synthesizing an ester or a carboxylic acid from an organic alcohol. To form the ester one reacts, in the presence of oxygen gas, the alcohol with methanol or ethanol. This reaction occurs in the presence of a catalyst comprising palladium and a co-catalyst comprising bismuth, tellurium, lead, cerium, titanium, zinc and/or niobium (most preferably at least bismuth and tellurium). Alternatively that catalyst can be used to generate an acid from that alcohol, when water is also added to the reaction mix.

  • Patent number: 9652260
Abstract: In a data storage system, a hierarchical data structure, such as a file system or a database, is utilized to organize a hierarchical arrangement of device containers corresponding to various device identifiers of the plurality of hardware components in the target hardware system, scripts corresponding to various packet types of communication packets in the target hardware system, and responses corresponding to various packet data in the communication packets in the target hardware system. In response to receipt by a hierarchical emulation engine of a communication packet during emulation of the target hardware system, the communication packet including a device identifier, packet type and packet data, a response to the communication packet is determined by traversing the hierarchical arrangement based on the device identifier, packet type and packet data of the communication packet. The determined response is then provided.

  • Publication number: 20170111014
Abstract: An embodiment of an amplifier system includes a modifiable signal adjustment device with an RF signal adjustment circuit coupled between first and second nodes. The RF signal adjustment circuit includes an adjustable phase shifter and an adjustable attenuator coupled in series with each other. The device also includes a memory and a controller circuit. The controller circuit retrieves a phase shift value and an attenuation value from the memory. The controller circuit then controls the adjustable phase shifter to apply a phase shift corresponding to the phase shift value to an input RF signal received at the first node, and controls the adjustable attenuator to apply an attenuation corresponding to the attenuation value to the input RF signal. Applying the phase shift and the attenuation results in an output RF signal at the second node.

  • Patent number: 9571165
Abstract: Near Field Communication (NFC) supports server information handling system management through communication between a mobile information handling system and a baseboard management controller. Enhanced transfer by NFC of management information is provided by manipulating the NFC tag memory assigned for information transfer with the aid of a microcontroller coordinating NFC transfers at the baseboard management controller, such as with coordinated storage operations at a tag memory an supporting processors/microcontrollers. The microcontroller manages tag memory and/or system memory so that the portable information handling system writes and reads information beyond the capabilities of unaided tag memory.
