  • Publication number: 20150274447
Abstract: An autonomous device for loading and unloading trucks comprises a mobile body, a robot arm and a body conveyor system to convey cartons during loading and unloading. A manipulator attaches to a moveable end of the robot arm and is maneuverable within the tight confines of the truck. The manipulator picks up a row of articles at a first location and places the row of articles down at a second location. The manipulator is reconfigurable to match to both locations.

  • Patent number: 9136606
Abstract: Electrically large, stepped-wall or smooth-wall, direct-radiating horn antenna apparatus that may preferably be used in satellite spot beam applications. Exemplary electrically large smooth-wall horn antenna apparatus comprises one or more input ports, an electrically large output port, and a smooth-wall or stepped-wall tapered section having a spline-shaped profile extending from the input port(s) to the output port of the apparatus. The spline-shaped profile is preferably monotonic and is preferably configured to generate a spot beam. The spline-shaped profile may be configured to support multiple frequency bands, and dual simultaneous polarization having either linear or circular polarization. The spline-shaped profile is defined by spline knots, and, the knot radii form a nondecreasing sequence. Preferably, the spline-shaped profile comprises a piecewise cubic Hermite interpolating polynomial spline that interpolates the shape of curves between the spline knots.

  • Patent number: 9137757
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes: an antenna for receiving inbound signals on dual receive channels and transmitting outbound signals on dual transmit channels; a transceiver coupled to the antenna to receive the inbound signals from the antenna and convey the outbound signals; a power controller coupled to the transceiver to control power levels of the outbound signals so a maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a first power level; and a processor coupled to the transceiver and the antenna to cause the power controller to control the power levels of the outbound signals so if a power level of a received one of the inbound signals is below a threshold value, then the maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a second power level lower than the first power level, wherein the second power level is lower than the first power level.

  • Publication number: 20150142163
Abstract: A closed loop temperature and wall thickness-based control system for improving process yield and quality while reducing dependence on operator skill utilizes intensity information from a hot end container imaging system and wall thickness information from a hot glass container wall thickness measurement system. By utilizing both the container intensity information and the measured wall thickness information it is possible to provide separate feedback signals responsive to temperature variations and thickness variations. These signals are used to implement automatic closed loop control of the I.S. machine.

  • Publication number: 20150127134
Abstract: A system and a method for improving process yield and quality while reducing dependence on operator skill by automatically adjusting I.S. machine timing and motions. Container pixel data information indicative of certain measurements of hot glass containers manufactured by the I.S. machine obtained with a multipoint, multispectral glass container measurement system is mathematically transformed into a reduced dimensional measured signature. Event timing signals to operate the cavities of the section of the I.S. machine in response to the measured signature and a preferred target signature are produced to automatically adjust the event timing of operations in the cavities of the section of the I.S. machine to diminish variations in the measured signature.

  • Patent number: 8969093
Abstract: Constant calibration methods and apparatuses for analytical devices that are located in remote positions in order to allow for reliable and automated measurements of various contaminants within water or other liquid samples. The proposed calibration systems allow for certain methods to measure total amounts of certain trihalomethane and haloacetic acid contaminants, at least, in drinking water samples from such remote locations, through the utilization of a standard addition introduction of known concentrations of such contaminant compounds within target samples, followed by separation through a capillary membrane sampling device and measurement of such different contaminants via flow injection analysis (FIA). In such a manner, the on-line, remote system provides the necessary reliability for a water utility or like entity on which to base any further needed water treatment activities without having to perform such measurements in a distinct lab setting.

  • Patent number: 8914258
Abstract: An RF feed element for an antenna system required to comply with a set of specified secondary pattern characteristics is designed by performing a quantitative optimization of the RF feed element directly with respect to the secondary pattern characteristics. The quantitative optimization may include pre-computing a plurality of partial secondary pattern complex field values. Each partial secondary pattern may be associated with an RF feed element modal beamlet. A value of at least one to-be-optimized feature is optimized by iteratively adjusting the value of the to-be-optimized feature(s) within an optimization loop that iteratively computes secondary pattern characteristics and compares them to the specified secondary pattern characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20140340271
Abstract: An array of antenna feed elements includes a plurality of horns, each horn having an aperture and configured for transmission of electromagnetic energy therethrough. At least a first horn is configured with an electrically conductive external surface proximate to the aperture, the external surface contoured so as to reduce mutual coupling between the first horn and an adjacent horn. Where the electromagnetic energy is within a radio frequency (RF) band, the external surface is contoured so as to provide an abrupt change in a gap dimension between the first horn and an adjacent horn, the change occurring at a distance behind the aperture of equal to a multiple of one half the characteristic wavelength of the RF band.

  • Publication number: 20140229831
Abstract: Coordinated audio and video filter pairs are applied to enhance artistic and emotional content of audiovisual performances. Such filter pairs, when applied in audio and video processing pipelines of an audiovisual application hosted on a portable computing device (such as a mobile phone or media player, a compute pad or tablet, a game controller or a personal digital assistant or book reader) can allow user selection of effects that enhance both audio and video coordinated therewith. Coordinated audio and video are captured, filtered and rendered at the portable computing device using camera and microphone interfaces, using digital signal processing software executable on a processor and using storage, speaker and display devices of, or interoperable with, the device. By providing audiovisual capture and personalization on an intimate handheld device, social interactions and postings of a type made popular by modern social networking platforms can now be extended to audiovisual content.

  • Patent number: 8794135
Abstract: An integrated system for: complete waste compactor/container operational control; remote fullness monitoring; and, remote performance and maintenance diagnostics. Such diagnostic information is transferred wirelessly or otherwise to one or more recipients, so as to directly provide a critical warning in real time. The waste compactor/container controller/monitor system allows for periodic substantially real-time oil viscosity measurements of the hydraulic fluid to account for changes in such viscosity. The system adjusts the timing of the compactor stroke to permit more efficient operation and inhibit damage to the hydraulic ram and/or container during use. The system provides for the monitoring and communication of substantially all aspects of compactor operation both on-site and remotely.

  • Publication number: 20140209557
Abstract: An apparatus for voice messaging medicant container includes a bottle enclosure, a cap, and an audio messaging system. The bottle enclosure and the cap house a medicant spray container within as the cap can be rotatably positioned in between an opened position and a closed position. When the cap is at the closed position, the nozzle of the medicant spray container is not accessible to the user. When the cap is at the opened position, the nozzle of the medicant spray container is accessible to the user through a nozzle opening of the cap. The audio messaging system automatically plays a prerecorded audio clip every time the cap is at the opened position; however, the prerecorded audio clip can also be manually played from a switch of the audio messaging system.

  • Patent number: 8570032
Abstract: A vibration detection circuit. The circuit includes an accelerometer, a combining filter, an amplifier, and an analog to digital converter. The accelerometer generates one or more signals indicative of movement along an axis. The combining filter filters a component of the one or more signals not associated with movement and combines the components of the one or more signals indicative of movement to create a combined signal. The amplifier amplifies the combined signal and creates an amplified signal. The analog to digital converter converts the amplified signal into a digital value.
