  • Publication number: 20120139807
Abstract: Electrically large, stepped-wall or smooth-wall, direct-radiating horn antenna apparatus that may preferably be used in satellite spot beam applications. Exemplary electrically large smooth-wall horn antenna apparatus comprises one or more input ports, an electrically large output port, and a smooth-wall or stepped-wall tapered section having a spline-shaped profile extending from the input port(s) to the output port of the apparatus. The spline-shaped profile is preferably monotonic and is preferably configured to generate a spot beam. The spline-shaped profile may be configured to support multiple frequency bands, and dual simultaneous polarization having either linear or circular polarization. The spline-shaped profile is defined by spline knots, and, the knot radii form a nondecreasing sequence. Preferably, the spline-shaped profile comprises a piecewise cubic Hermite interpolating polynomial spline that interpolates the shape of curves between the spline knots.

  • Publication number: 20110209519
Abstract: A vibration detection circuit. The circuit includes an accelerometer, a combining filter, an amplifier, and an analog to digital converter. The accelerometer generates one or more signals indicative of movement along an axis. The combining filter filters a component of the one or more signals not associated with movement and combines the components of the one or more signals indicative of movement to create a combined signal. The amplifier amplifies the combined signal and creates an amplified signal. The analog to digital converter converts the amplified signal into a digital value.

  • Publication number: 20110197635
Abstract: An optimized scoop for receiving the glass gobs formed by the shearing mechanism is disclosed which provides an optimal trajectory that enables glass gobs passing therethrough to have an improved glass gob shape together with a negligible increase in glass gob length, with a velocity that is equal to or better than that of previously known scoops. The optimized scoop enhances glass gob shape to produce a more uniformly cylindrical glass gobs and eliminate dog-bone configurations. Trajectory of the optimized scoop is optimized both to enhance exit velocity of the glass gobs and minimize forces applied to the glass gobs.

  • Publication number: 20110199949
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes: an antenna for receiving inbound signals on dual receive channels and transmitting outbound signals on dual transmit channels; a transceiver coupled to the antenna to receive the inbound signals from the antenna and convey the outbound signals; a power controller coupled to the transceiver to control power levels of the outbound signals so a maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a first power level; and a processor coupled to the transceiver and the antenna to cause the power controller to control the power levels of the outbound signals so if a power level of a received one of the inbound signals is below a threshold value, then the maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a second power level lower than the first power level, wherein the second power level is lower than the first power level.

  • Patent number: 7926419
Abstract: An integrated system for: complete waste compactor/container operational control; remote fullness monitoring; and, remote performance and maintenance diagnostics. Such diagnostic information is transferred wirelessly or otherwise to one or more recipients, so as to directly provide a critical warning in real time. The waste compactor/container controller/monitor system allows for periodic substantially real-time oil viscosity measurements of the hydraulic fluid to account for changes in such viscosity. The system adjusts the timing of the compactor stroke to permit more efficient operation and inhibit damage to the hydraulic ram and/or container during use. The system provides for the monitoring and communication of substantially all aspects of compactor operation both on-site and remotely.
