  • Publication number: 20040210114
Abstract: The present invention relates to an illuminated airway product that will allow visualization of the airway of a patient during intubation. The illuminated airway product includes a light source such as an LED disposed at its distal end. The LED shines axially, radially, or in both directions from the airway intubation device. The airway product includes an on-board voltage source. Hence, no additional or external voltage sources or components are necessary to light the device. The airway device may further include one or more lumens or tubes for delivering air, suctioning debris or fluids, delivering medicine, radio-opaqueness, etc. An inflatable cuff may be associated with the endotracheal tube such that collateral flow of air is prevented. An inflation lumen or tube is fluidly coupled to the inflatable cuff. The shape of the endotracheal tube may be adjusted either by use of a stylet or suction trocar made out of a malleable material such as aluminum or by inclusion of a malleable wire within the tube.

  • Patent number: 6774320
Abstract: Standard attachment fittings for wire rope and chain (WR&C) that are enhanced to also perform load weighing functions in lifting/support or pulling assembly applications. The existing unmodified shape of each typical WR&C fitting provides focused linear strain under tensile or compression loading at determinable points on the fitting body. Affixing a strain gauge element to any of these points will enable accurate load weight measurement eliminating the need for a separate weigh scale and a “thin section” typically required in load sensors to focus load strain and achieve accurate load weight readings. The invention addresses increased WR&C fitting assembly simplicity, preserved structural integrity, improved assembly compactness, reduced cost, enhanced safety and maintenance of the original application functions of the standard attachment fittings while enhancing the said fittings with weighing function capability.

  • Publication number: 20040006854
Abstract: A binding device comprising an elongated elastic member that contains at least one region of loop material generally adjacent to at least one region of hook material. The regions of different material allow binding when the loop material of the binding member comes in contact with the hook material. The elastic member is flexible and may bend back on itself to engage the hook and loop material. For example, an elastic self-attaching cord may include a surface that contains regions of loop material generally adjacent to hook material at evenly spaced intervals or placed at random intervals. Another examples are a tube or strip binding member. The elastic tube or strip binding device also contains loop material generally adjacent to hook material positioned on the surface of the tube or strip.

  • Patent number: 6659306
Abstract: A system for delivering a preset volume of fluid, such as oil, includes a master control station (1) and one or more metering device (8) communicatively linked through a wireless communications network. The master control station (1) provides command signals to enable dispensing of a fluid from the metering device (8) and provides a preset amount of fluid to be dispensed. The metering device (8) is manually activated by a manually-operated lever (14), and is thereafter latched in an open position to dispense lubricant. The amount of lubricant dispensed is metered until the predetermined amount of lubricant is dispensed. After the preset amount is dispensed, the metering device (8) is latched in a closed position, preventing further dispensing until the metering device (8) is again enabled by the central control station (1).
