    Abstract: In an approach to RLC channel management for low memory 5G devices, responsive to detecting a memory overload in an RLC layer of a 5G user equipment, whether slices of a plurality of slices are merger candidates is determined. Responsive to determining that the slices are merger candidates, whether any merger candidates can share a transportation logical entity is determined, where merger candidates can share the transportation logical entity if performance and quality parameters are within predetermined limits. The merger candidates that can share the transportation logical entity are marked as allowed candidates. Responsive to determining that at least one allowed candidate has a workload that is below a predetermined threshold, the allowed candidates are merged into merged flows.

    Abstract: Mechanisms for reducing the impact of drive parameter writes on solid state drive (SSD) performance are provided, the methods including: saving one or more SSD drive parameters of an SSD to volatile memory of the SSD using an SSD controller; detecting a power-loss condition in the SSD; and copying the one or more SSD drive parameters from the volatile memory of the SSD to non-volatile memory of the SSD. In some embodiments, the SSD is a NAND SSD. In some embodiments, the one or more SSD drive parameters include one or more of: a drive health parameter, a drive internal statistic, drive thermal information, drive debug information, a number of host and non-volatile memory read and writes, media error handling data, temperature and throttle information, and firmware download information. In some embodiments, the volatile memory is one or more of: random-access memory and dynamic random-access memory.

In addition, the multi-mode demosaicing circuit shares memory with a post-processing and scaling circuit configured to perform subsequent post-processing and/or scaling of the demosaiced image data, in which the operations of the post-processing and scaling circuit are modified based on the original raw image format of the demosaiced image data to use different amounts of the shared memory, to compensate for additional memory utilized by the multi-mode demosaicing circuit when demosaicing certain types of image data.

Haptic metric values are collected from haptic interfaces embedded in input devices users control to generate content. A training set associates a haptic metric value resulting from a user interacting with an input device to generate content and a sentiment score for the content. A sentiment machine learning module is trained to output the sentiment score in a training set from input comprising the haptic metric value. A haptic metric value received from an input device, used by an active user interacting with the interactive program, is inputted to the sentiment machine learning module to output a haptic sentiment score for the haptic metric value. The haptic sentiment score is provided to an interactive program to control the interactive program communications with the active user.

    Abstract: Methods for data visibility in nested transactions in distributed systems are performed by systems and devices. Distributed executions of queries are performed in processing systems according to isolation level protocols with unique nested transaction identifiers for data management and versioning across one or more data sets, one or more compute pools, etc., within a logical server via a single transaction manager that oversees the isolation semantics and data versioning. A distributed query processor of the systems and devices performs nested transaction versioning for distributed tasks by generating nested transaction identifiers, encoded in data rows, which are used to enforce correct data visibility. Data visibility is restricted to previously committed data from distributed transactions and tasks, and is blocked for distributed transactions and tasks that run concurrently.

The nanofibers release of an antibacterial agent in response to the presence of bacteria. The core of the nanofiber comprises a biocompatible polymer together with an antibacterial agent such as a quaternary ammonium compound, for example benzyl dimethyl tetradecyl ammonium chloride (BTAC). Surrounding the core is shell comprised of a bacterially degradable polymer, which is susceptible to break-down by bacterial enzymes such as lipase, or to acidic pH conditions. The shell may comprise, for example, polycaprolactone (PCL) and poly(ethylene succinate) (PES). The nanofibers may be incorporated into wound dressings.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to several techniques for reducing the occurrence of data collisions, which can occur when multiple devices simultaneously transmit data in the same (frequency) channel. For example, a turnaround time in which a device switches from a receive mode of operation to a transmit mode of operation may be reduced based on the device and another device indicating that they are capable of operating with a reduced turnaround. As another example, devices may use learning-based turnaround estimation to determine a turnaround time supported by other devices and utilize the determined turnaround time, for instance, instead of a longer turnaround time. As yet another example, multiple clear channel assessments may be performed before transmitting data. For instance, a first clear channel assessment may be performed during a backoff period, and a second clear channel assessment may be performed afterwards before data is transmitted.

    Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computer system for transmitting an ACK in response to receipt of a data packet in RLC AM mode operation in a 5G communication protocol stack. A first RLC entity receives from a receiving UE corresponding to the first RLC entity: (i) an ACK to be sent to a transmitting UE in response to the receiving UE having received a data packet from the transmitting UE and (ii) a first RLC channel extracted by the receiving UE from a header of the data packet. In response to a first communication having specified that the first RLC channel is congested, the first RLC entity selects a second, different RLC channel operating in the RLC AM mode and not being congested. The first RLC entity sends the ACK to the transmitting UE via the second RLC channel instead of via the first RLC channel.
